Neighborhood: Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
How to get there
  • Circo Massimo • 3 min walk

Don't delay, book your class!
Oct 2019
My friend and I had the best time with Daniela and her assistant Nadia, in fact we didn't want to leave when the class was over! They felt like family after a few hours together in the kitchen. I have taken many cooking classes over the years, and come from a family of excellent cooks, but this was an experience beyond my wildest dreams. We prepared beautiful, simple dishes and talked a lot about the food and Roman fare. It was so interesting and delicious. I will definitely go back the next time I find myself in the city. A special note that Daniela was particularly accommodating with our schedule and dietary restrictions. PS I missed the Testaccio tour this time but will definitely make time for it next visit.

Best Experience Ever
Oct 2019
This is my fifth trip to Italy, but the first time taking our grandchildren. We wanted the perfect trip and we wanted to book a cooking class as a surprise for the kids and our daughter. I had booked with someone else, but she had to cancel due to a family emergency. We were scrambling four days before the trip to find anither class and found Daniela's website.

From the moment I wrote to her about specifics, price and availability, Daniela was prompt to reply and was very flexible with the menus. I iimmediately felt a connection and knew she would be perfect!

Daniela and her friend Nadia taught us how to make gnocchi with tomato sauce, Veal Saltembocco, and a wonderful chocolate cake that was her grandmother's recipe. We also had two different appetizers - bruschetta and white pizza with mortadella.

Daniela's home is beautiful, the kitchen was set up to make the class easy to view and very interactive. Both Daniela and Nadia clearly liked the children and entire family and we had lots of good conversation. Her dining room was the height of elegance and we continued a lively discussion.

I cannot recommend Daniela's Cooking Class more highly. I would not hesitate to book another class or dinner with her. I count her as a new friend and hope our paths cross again.

If I could give a 10 rating, I would. Thank you Daniela and Nadia.

A fun, interactive, wonderful experience
Oct 2019
OMG! My parents booked a class with Daniela and Nadia as a surprise for my kids and I to have while we are here in Rome. We were so thrilled to be a part of this. Daniela and Nadia are such warm, welcoming people that we hated to leave. We made a ricotta and chocolate cake, bruschetta with tomatoes, basil and olive oil ( I could have eaten all of that alone). Next we made gnocchi and once cooked they tossed it in a tomato sauce that was so yummy. Lastly we put together Veal Saltimbocca. The food was all so wonderful to eat but what made it all the more special is we all took part in making the dishes. My daughter helped the most with making the gnocchi, being able to watch my children have so much fun learning how to make these meals and making them as well was a delight as well. My daughter had so much fun we bought an apron that with Daniela's Cooking School on it for her to use at home. We all really felt we gained friends for life. If you have the opportunity to experience this please do, you will not be disappointed.

Memorable Experience!
Feb 2019
My friend and I had a wonderful morning with Daniela and her assistant Nadia. We met at the Testaccio market where we sat and planned the meal over coffee. She gave us options and we picked things we could make at home again. Unfortunately, my friend was feeling bad, but they were very patient. Walking around the market having Daniela explain some of the stalls and food was worth the cost of the day itself! I found it fascinating. We tried food and treats from different vendors.

Off to her beautiful home to begin cooking school. Sometimes doing the prep work as she explains and then being more hands on. We learned so much and even made fresh pasta. Sat and enjoyed the meal with her at the end and talked and learned about Roman life and travel around Italy. She will email you the recipes. Our tiramisu was divine and like nothing you’ve ever had before - the real thing and so easy. We even used some ingredients & techniques we had used there (beef cheek we bought at Eataly and sliced artichokes cooked in butter and oil) in our tiny Rome kitchen when making risotto and it was delicious!

Thank you Daniela for a day to remember!

The most outstanding part of this experience is Daniela. She is an amazing teacher and hostess and by the end of the day you feel like you have a new friend in Rome.

You feel like you are cooking at home with family! Daniela is so kind and welcomes you into her home. The day starts with cappuccino and you go shopping at the market together to buy the fresh ingredients. Then back to her kitchen to create and make a 5 course meal! We learned so much and you get to participate along side Daniela and Naydia. The fresh pasta, pizza, eggplant and veal were outstanding! This is a must do when traveling to Rome. It was the highlight of our honeymoon!!

Best part of our trip to Rome
May 2018 • Family
My daughter and I spent the morning with Daniela and her assistant on our last day in Rome. We met at the market and planned a menu. Homemade ravioli, chicken cacciatore, asparagus and her grandmother's Chocolate ricotta cake. Daniela said she would surprise us with a starter. The Testaccio Market is worth a visit and navigating it with two wonderful guides was fantastic. After visiting the meat shop, cheese shop and buying fresh vegetables, Daniela drove us in her car up the Aventine Hill to her charming home.

We spent the next several hours cooking, harvesting fresh herbs, learning new techniques and ended up with a four course meal that we can make at home. My daughter loved it and we have a special memory of time spent together with Daniela in Rome. It was the perfect end to our trip.

My siblings and I spent 4 days in Rome and Daniela's Cooking School was the last, formal activity we did and it was outstanding. I can't add much to the previous reviews. Daniela (and Nadia) were welcoming from the moment we stepped out of the van to greet them near the market: smiling, friendly, personable, engaging, interactive - all those positive superlatives that probably doesn't adequately describe how wonderful we thought they were. After the hustle and bustle of Rome (a great, loud, busy, noisy city), it was pleasure to spend time in an unhurried atmosphere. The walk through the market was informative; and Daniela and Nadia were patient as we asked numerous questions. (And sampled some of the offerings.)

We thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on experiences as well as some good history regarding Italian food. My siblings are still shaking their heads after learning that Fettuccine Alfredo and Chicken Parmesan are not traditional Italian dishes. :-) The recipes we executed were simple (which was good since were a big group) and flavorful. No, that's not accurate: they were "Oh my god, this is quite wonderful food." But, the interaction during the entire process with Daniela and Nadia was outstanding - very lovely people; very accessible; very friendly; they were perfect hosts. Daniela's home (which is on a quiet, tree-lined street away from the center of Rome) was warm, inviting, and relaxing; and the kitchen layout allowed us to easily interact. I was inspired to sing an opera highlight as we enjoyed the starters and wine in her backyard accompanied by great weather. We moved indoors to feast on the pasta dish (perfect), the veal (outstanding) and vegetable (excellent) dishes; and the dessert (excellent).

Overall, it was a perfect ending to our visit to Rome. Daniela and Nadia are individuals who, I hope, we'll know for a long time. When I return to Rome, I plan to utilize their services, again. Or, just meet for a friendly chat over a cup of tea. Thank you, Daniela and Nadia, for the experience and the pleasure of your company.

Our family of 8 visited Daniela's wonderful home to learn a lot about cooking a traditional Italian 5 course meal. We made our own Tiramisu! The food was great, Daniela and Nadia couldn't have been more welcoming and enjoyable and the wine was wonderful. Great time for everyone.
