Neighborhood: Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.

My siblings and I spent 4 days in Rome and Daniela's Cooking School was the last, formal activity we did and it was outstanding. I can't add much to the previous reviews. Daniela (and Nadia) were welcoming from the moment we stepped out of the van to greet them near the market: smiling, friendly, personable, engaging, interactive - all those positive superlatives that probably doesn't adequately describe how wonderful we thought they were. After the hustle and bustle of Rome (a great, loud, busy, noisy city), it was pleasure to spend time in an unhurried atmosphere. The walk through the market was informative; and Daniela and Nadia were patient as we asked numerous questions. (And sampled some of the offerings.)

We thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on experiences as well as some good history regarding Italian food. My siblings are still shaking their heads after learning that Fettuccine Alfredo and Chicken Parmesan are not traditional Italian dishes. :-) The recipes we executed were simple (which was good since were a big group) and flavorful. No, that's not accurate: they were "Oh my god, this is quite wonderful food." But, the interaction during the entire process with Daniela and Nadia was outstanding - very lovely people; very accessible; very friendly; they were perfect hosts. Daniela's home (which is on a quiet, tree-lined street away from the center of Rome) was warm, inviting, and relaxing; and the kitchen layout allowed us to easily interact. I was inspired to sing an opera highlight as we enjoyed the starters and wine in her backyard accompanied by great weather. We moved indoors to feast on the pasta dish (perfect), the veal (outstanding) and vegetable (excellent) dishes; and the dessert (excellent).

Overall, it was a perfect ending to our visit to Rome. Daniela and Nadia are individuals who, I hope, we'll know for a long time. When I return to Rome, I plan to utilize their services, again. Or, just meet for a friendly chat over a cup of tea. Thank you, Daniela and Nadia, for the experience and the pleasure of your company.

As a Chef and a Leader of Culinary Adventures, I am always seeking experiences that feed one's soul as much as one's stomach. This is one of those experiences. Starting at the market, picking the ingredients - and getting to spend hours cooking with Daniela and Nadia is a gift. I use the recipes often, too. The authenticity and the warm surroundings make this a must do activitity for anyone - but especially, cooks!

This was by far my favorite activity during our trip to Rome. We almost didn't do it, boy am I glad we decided to make it happen. Daniela was so charming and very passionate about cooking. The menu was exquisite and her assistant Ari was the best. I can't wait to get back to Rome for more of Daniela's creations. She didn't just instruct us, it was a collaboration. You actually cook with her. The best part, of course, is getting to enjoy your multi-course meal with the best of company. Daniela also gives you the recipes from your menu to take home. I'm sad that we left ours in a hotel but such is life. She accommodates dietary restrictions. If you have special requests, like a pescatarian diet, like us, don't worry, she'll make sure you can enjoy too. Sign up for Daniela's Cooking School, you won't regret it.

I loved this experience!!! Daniela & Ari have such a way with food...and people. We met Daniela outside of the local market, we planned our menu and then went shopping for the food. While shopping we learned about local cuisine and had the opportunity to meet the merchants. When we got back to Daniela's awesome kitchen and outdoor garden it was time to cook! We learned how to make awesome food with fresh local ingredients and we laughed together. The food was the BEST thing I ate during my week stay in Italy. There are some people you meet who feel like family-Daniela & her assistant Ari are those people. Nothing compares to this experience!! Go NOW!!!! :-)

My friend and I had a wonderful morning with Daniela and her assistant Nadia. We met at the Testaccio market where we sat and planned the meal over coffee. She gave us options and we picked things we could make at home again. Unfortunately, my friend was feeling bad, but they were very patient. Walking around the market having Daniela explain some of the stalls and food was worth the cost of the day itself! I found it fascinating. We tried food and treats from different vendors.

Off to her beautiful home to begin cooking school. Sometimes doing the prep work as she explains and then being more hands on. We learned so much and even made fresh pasta. Sat and enjoyed the meal with her at the end and talked and learned about Roman life and travel around Italy. She will email you the recipes. Our tiramisu was divine and like nothing you’ve ever had before - the real thing and so easy. We even used some ingredients & techniques we had used there (beef cheek we bought at Eataly and sliced artichokes cooked in butter and oil) in our tiny Rome kitchen when making risotto and it was delicious!

Thank you Daniela for a day to remember!

You feel like you are cooking at home with family! Daniela is so kind and welcomes you into her home. The day starts with cappuccino and you go shopping at the market together to buy the fresh ingredients. Then back to her kitchen to create and make a 5 course meal! We learned so much and you get to participate along side Daniela and Naydia. The fresh pasta, pizza, eggplant and veal were outstanding! This is a must do when traveling to Rome. It was the highlight of our honeymoon!!

My husband and I took a private class with Daniela, who is absolutely charming. As the other reviewers, we met at the cute Testaccio market and then proceeded to Daniela's lovely home to cook. The meal was simple and delicious, and we have been able to easily duplicate the recipes at home. I think that her class would be fun for cooks of all levels of experience--you can pick the meal together. We will gladly open our home to Daniela if she is ever in our area!

My wife and I have been to two different cooking classes i Rome before. Danielas cooking was in a cathegory of its own. There were just the two of us. The menu was created at the cafeteria at Testaccio food market. We did not want to repeat any dish that we had been making before. I had sent Daniela a list of what had made on the previous classes. We started planning a 5 dish menu completely based on our wishes and Daniela's experience. Then we went shopping in the food market. Back to Daniela's home and starting the work. We asked Daniela tonhave us do all possible phases so that we could getvas much handson as possible. The result was a wonderful dinner with well chosen wine. We have already at home made several on the dishes.

Best regards

My friend and I travelled to Italy this past Fall. After settling in to our wonderful apartment (owned by Daniela's family) and being warmly welcoming by Daniela, we enjoyed an amazing culinary experience with Daniela. We personalized our menu - enjoyed chatting and cooking together and then dined on our delicious meal. I've enjoyed cooking experiences around the world and Daniela's talent is extraordinary. As wonderful as creating our dinner was the memorable conversation learning about Italian cooking and culture. It's as if we spent the afternoon and evening with a dear friend. I can't wait til we meet again!

Attended a class a few weeks ago, its a bit more pricey than other classes but worth every cent. It is a personal experience, instead of being in a class with 20 other people, this is a max 4 person class, with Daniela and her assistant. She is a great teacher and they give you the perspective if what it is really like to live in Italy, especially through the cooking and food. You start off at a fantastic and very authentic market in Testaccio, where you plan out the menu and they buy ingredients and basically take you through a food tour. Then onto her house in a wonderful neighborhood in Rome where you cook a 4 course meal together. Great for those interested in Italian cooking and those who want to see life in Rome from the perspective of people who actually live there. Overall great experience, learned several great tips on Italian cuisine and would do again.
