For those of us that can't afford Gucci, this is the best place to shop in Rome. There are hundreds of small privately owned shops selling anything and everything at reasonable prices. On top of that there are many small places to grab a snack, an espresso, or a gelato. Make your way from the river to Campo de' Fiori and come back on a nearby street. Lots of little streets fanning out all over the area with great places to visit.

This relatively short street runs parallel to and is between Via Giulia and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. It is host to many shops, palazzos and Chiesa di Santa Lucia del Gonfalone from 1700’s, It starts at the intersection of Via di Monserrato and Via del Pellegrino on the east and ends at Largo Ottavio Tassoni on the west. This is a nice street to stroll and enjoy the unhurried pace of back alley Rome.

The street is named after the bankers who once lived on it. It has a beautiful church and some Renaissance buildings with statues of cupids and classical heads staring back at you. It also has a mansion that was commissioned to be built by Rodrigo Borgia. But for me it became special because we stopped here for aperitivos, that best of Italian rituals. The aperitivo bars here offer sidewalk seating and lovely buffets along with cocktails and beers for just 8-10 Euros.

This street is named after the bankers who used to live and work here. There are several interesting Renaissance buildings, such as Palazzo degli Accetti at number 123 and Palazzo dei Pupazzi at number 22. Palazzo dei Pupazzi was commissioned between 1538 and 1540 by the goldsmith Pietro Crivelli, who had it decorated with cupids, women's heads and nudes, hence its name. Also in the same street is Palazzo Sforza Cesarini, commissioned by Cardinal Borgia before he became Pope Alexander VI. Palazzo Sforza Cesarini's main facade was once on this street, but was later moved to the Corso Vittorio Emanuele side of the building. There is also the church of S. Lucia del Gonfalone at number 12.

In the Heart of Rome a beautifull and particular street to arrive to Campo dei Fiori through a suggestive itinerary.

One of the most romantic streets in the historic center of the city hides some very interesting buildings and many stories that go with them. The name refers to the old benches where bankers, clerks and traders exercised their business with a flow of pilgrims on their way to the Saint Peter’s square.

Great local cafe and bar with morning pastries and sandwiches all day... Lucky to have discovered this just off of the main road in Rome. Could not find this Cafe as a restaurant on TA.
