Tragic for elephants
Dec 2019 • Family
This is a tragic zoo. Appalling conditions for two elephants who are clearly stressed and sad. A keeper said they were waiting for them to die. That enclosure cd not accommodate any enrichment. It’s barbaric for such a city to tolerate these conditions for these wonderful creatures however old they are. If anything can be done please find them sanctuary elsewhere

Best yet
Sep 2020
Probably our best ever visit to a zoo which was definitely helped by being in the right spots at the right times. We managed to catch a lot of the animals at their feeding time, the wolves were fantastic. Also it was the best laid out so you didn't missing anything and had a natural flow so you saw all the animals. And every animal was out which surprised us with the heat of the day. Couple of cafe's inside brought a welcome restbite but many of the locals brought massive picnics.
The only pointless aspect seemed to be you had to pre-book online (covid i assume) but all you had to do was stand there and do it online there and then. Not sure of the purpose of it.
Grand day out though.

Far better attractions in Rome to spend your time in
Aug 2020
The zoo was fine – fairly pleasant, a reasonable size and with a decent variety of animals – but was nothing special. I would much recommend spending your time in the city, wandering between restaurants and experiencing the hustle and bustle of an amazing location.

Old but still nice
Jul 2019
Like many urban zoos, this suffers a bit from being landlocked without room for expansion. But we enjoyed it. Some highlights. There is a nice exhibit on CITES (the laws against trafficking in endangers species), with some examples of confiscated items and a call for conservation. The giraffe area is quite nice. We enjoyed the elephant exhibit--as the space is smaller than elephant exhibits in larger zoos, this is used as a retirement home for two older Asian females. There is a nice cafe with decent foot for cafeteria style that we enjoyed (it's on the zoo map).

Loved it!
Jul 2019 • Couples
This zoo is great if you’re feeling fed up with the busy city. It’s a lovely little zoo with a lot to see!
It was one of the highlights of the trip as it was not a planned visit, but we are so glad we did!
We went in the later afternoon and it was quiet, finished off with a yummy ice lolly

Fantastic compact Zoo!
Mar 2020 • Couples
We spent about four hours wandering around this excellent small zoo. We were wondering what to expect considering some of the mixed reviews, but a great zoo in the City. Fantastic range of animals including big cats (and an amazing white tiger), elephants, hippo’s, zebra, seals and more. Great reptile area with a HUGE Anaconda too. Would highly recommend if you have a few spare hours!

Good variation of animals but no where to eat
Feb 2020 • Couples
We walked here which took us half an hr from via Napoli, through the park. When your going through the park hang right as the sign takes you right to the end of the park otherwise. Read mixed reviews but thought we would form our own opinion. Going through the gate we saw a closed down ice cream shop, 2 vending machines with drinks and packaged sandwich's and other snack type things. I assumed the 2 main snack bars/restaurant would be open. Both closed for renovation and no other food! How stupid. Guinea pigs seem to have eye conditions (having got 2 myself at home) and one guinea pig was eating chicken feed as they are in with chickens and rabbits. This upset me.
Also i think all the animals need to have more fresh water. Huge dead frog in the green little water pool by the giraffs. Overall the place could do with a bit of money spent on it. The animal enclosures were ok sizes because otherwise you wouldnt see them. The glass that surrounds the tigers isnt exactly safety glass looking with bits of trim hanging off it. All animals looked ok apart from the guinea pigs as i say and also the monkeys in the large circular enclosure seem to be fighting alot. Alot with hair missing and sore bits.
Loved the baby meerkat, so cute.

I am sure if the zoo needed more money people would be happy to pay more than €16 each. We pay £25 each to go to the zoo at home, so maybe worth the zoo thinking about this.

This zoo allows you to get up close to the animals and get some lovely photos. It was a lovely day out we spent about 4 hours at the zoo and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Poor
Jan 2020 • Friends
The zoo is not equipped for these animals. The conditions are poor and not enough space for the animals. I did not see a single zoo keeper during my visit and there was no water for the penguins at all. Some animals looked injured and sad.

We have just been to Rome again (several previous visits)!
We did some different things other that the usual iconic attractions.
The zoo was brilliant- lots of very active animals- a real gem of a place!! I have visited several zoos in various parts of the world but this was the best and super!!

Would definitely recommend- something for everyone and a very relaxing place too
Well done - brilliant
