Ilaria Marsili was recommended to us by a neighbor back home in the USA, and she didn't disappoint. She is very knowledgeable (a veritable walking encyclopedia of Roman history and art history), friendly, engaging and enthusiastic about what she does. She spent 5 hours guiding us through the Colosseum, the Palatine Hil and the Forum one day, and 3 hours with us at the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel the next. We were a group of 8, and we thought her fee (a flat hourly rate) was well worth the expenditure; we got so much more out of our tours with Ilaria than we would have gotten on our own with guidebooks in hand. It's best to book with Ilaria well in advance; her services seem to be much in demand (we contacted her almost 90 days ahead for our tour in the busy month of October 2022).

laria was an absolutely fantastic tour guide. She has a mastery on everything to do with Rome, both modern and ancient. Having toured extensively with her for over two weeks I had a firsthand view of someone talk passionately about a topic for what would be an easy eight hours a day. In my opinion she went above and beyond organizing and making my visit the most fantastic opportunity of my life. Her passion for the subject and her home made me feel I was almost a citizen of the city both today and yesterday.
I would heartily recommend for anyone planning a visit in Rome, they should contact Ilaria Marcili and make use of her talent, enthusiasm and knowledge of the Eternal City.

Ilaria brought my family of 25 on an unforgettable tour of the Vatican at night. She is so passionate about Rome and very knowledgable - her enthusiasm is contagious. Ilaria was very responsive and extremely helpful in planning our time with her. She also engaged a smaller family group the following day on a personal tour of the hightlights in Rome - they were very impressed with Ilaria and very happy with the time they spent together on the tour. Don't hestitate to reach out to Ilaria, she is a very genuine soul and will serve you well.

My daughter and I spent two afternoons with Ilaria, touring the Colosseum, the Palatine and the Vatican. We had a wonderful time. She is not only engaging, funny and knowledgeable, she offers a different experience. Like any professional tour guide, she saved us time and allowed us to experience the tourist sites of Rome without worrying about where to go, how to get there and what to do next. But it was more that that. I thoroughly enjoyed her enthusiasm, her love of beauty, her insights into the meaning of history, and her analysis of the evolution of art through the centuries. We had a fascinating time full of fun. Bellisima!

Ilaria was a fantastic guide. We had a group from 3 to 75 and she engaged with everyone, kept everyone's attention and was a wealth of knowledge. She was recommended to us by a friend and I would highly recommend her as well. We did the Forum and Coliseum one day and the Vatican the next day - both were outstanding and extremely well guided by Ilaria.

Prepare for a love affair with Roma after touring with this amazing guide! My husband and I toured with her just hours after our arrival to see the beauty of this ancient city at night (I highly recommend it if you have the time!). Ilaria takes care of all the little details; for instance, we hopped on the subway and she had tix for us so we didn’t have to figure out fare and stops. I’ve included a picture prior to entering the Vatican, and you will see the extensive info she provided about the art of the Sistine Chapel. She had coins for us to toss in the Trevi Fountain with instructions how to do it and the wish to make, as she took my husband’s cell phone for the perfect picture!! I could go on, but suffice it to say, you will not be disappointed! We have a new friend-a (that’s my Italian! 😁) in Italy, and you can too! Thanks for the memories, Ilaria!

Ilaria is a very special guide - truly wonderful in every way! Not only is she extremely knowledgeable, but she made the tours very engaging and fun with her high energy and personal perspectives. She’s on a much higher level than other regular tour guides. We had private tours on two days - for the Colosseum and Forum and the Vatican. She was very kind and made sure everyone in the group was taken care of - especially my elderly mom who was fulfilling her dream to visit Rome and see the Sistine Chapel. Would highly recommend her for any kind of tour in Rome.

Ilaria is the absolute best!
From her warm welcome, Ilaria exudes the love and passion she feels for the art and history of her homeland, This was my second tour of the Vatican with her and I would not have chosen anyone else. She is extremely efficient at guiding you through the crowds and patiently provides detailed answers to questions you may have. She will sit you down and give you photograpic and descriptive evidence of what you are about to see, which then allows your mind to take in the most minute details. She has a depth of knowledge that I find truly mind-blowing. I hope to tour with her again.

Ilaria is a truly amazing guide - she really made all the difference in our trip to Rome last week. She is so knowledgeable (we learned so much in such an engaging way) and she was so skillful at connecting with all our diverse family members of all ages. And she really brought the history and culture to life so much more than the other guided tours we took while in Italy. Thank you so much Ilaria. Highly recommended!

Ilaria took us on a tour of the Forum and Coliseum, followed by a tour of the Vatican two days later. She was a wealth of information about the historic and artistic background of these sites, and made history come alive for us. We had two seniors (over 80) in our group of 6, and she was very accommodating of our need for a slower pace, rest, and shade. She took lots of photos for us, so we didn't have to use selfie sticks. In between tours with Ilaria, she recommended that we visit the Pope in St. Peter's Square because he was making a public appearance that day - a real treat and not something I had planned to see on our first trip to Italy. I really can't say enough good things about Ilaria!
