I wish we had done this tour on our first day in Rome! We learned a lot about the local cuisine and how to find the best spots to eat. Because it was a walking tour you didn't feel too full after all the food (pizza, pasta, gelato, appetizers, etc.) Our guide, Giovanni, was very personable and we had a great time chatting with him on the tour. Length of tour was great, lots of walking but also lots of opportunities to sit while eating and rest your feet.

We had a guided tour at Vatican Museum booked with Grayline at 8:40 a.m. We were in the area at 8:20 a.m., there was a different meeting point (at a restaurant- nothing official) than the entrance of the museum, and we started to ask around because we didn't see any person. There were a lot of people, some of them official staff members, some non-official but still having a badge with STAFF written on it. After 20 minutes of running around, not understanding the indications, we got a call, giving us different indications then the ones we got from the staff members in front of the museum. We didn't know what "authority" should we listen to, so we listened to the official staff of the Vatican museum in the uniform. In the end, we were 5 minutes late to the meeting point (08:45 a.m.), when we didn't find any person there, we called (at 08:51 a.m., already on our way back to the entrance) the same number trying to solve the problem and they told us that we lost the tickets. We asked around to find out which company was the one we booked our tours with (it was not the same name on the reservation and on the staff members - on the reservation it was written Carrani Tours - nobody knew this name; they told us that they are called The Grayline, and that we should look for the staff wearing Pink - I love rome. There were a lot of people in pink, some of them with pink flags, some of them with different colored scarfs instead of flags). In the end, we got to the agency's office which was in the different spot than the meeting point and the entrance to the museum. I told them that I understand that we were 5 minutes late to the tour - even though we were in the same area, we had our metro tickets to confirm that, and that we were lost and we got a lot of misleading information from a lot of "staff" members" - but the booked tour (45€/ pers) we payed for included the entrance tickets to the museum, so we only want our tickets for the entrance, and we understand that we lose the money for the tour. They told us that this is impossible, and that the only option is to buy other tickets from them for the entrance to the Vatican Museum (25€/pers) and to meet them again at 2:00 p.m. We payed again the entrance fee and we got to the meeting point at 1:30 p.m. just to be sure. Nobody showed till 1:45 (which confirmed that 20 minutes before the tour, nobody was around). The guide was 7 minutes late, which meant that we left the meeting point at around 2:10 - in the morning, when we were only 5 minutes late, they said they couldn't do anything for us, but apparently the meeting hour wasn't that strict. We went with the guide at the entrance of the Museum, then the guide bought the ticket for us - no strict hour for the reservation, no name on the ticket, the ticket was only 17€/pers and was bought at 2:17 pm - so in the end, we had no reason to pay the entrance tickets again, because they didn't buy our tickets in the first place, in the morning. The visit started at around 2:30-2:40 pm, so at least 30 minutes after the "strict meeting hour " we missed in the morning. It was a really unpleasant experience, it was the first time for us in Rome and Vatican City, and the second day in our visit, we didn't know the spots, we didn't know that there were so many people from the staff giving us misleading information, we payed twice a ticket that it shouldn't have been so expansive in the first place, and for 5 minutes of delay on our holiday, when the company didn't buy dated or personalized tickets, they really weren't friendly.

Toilet on bus was inaccessible, making for an uncomfortable ride from stop to stop. Bus pickup from hotel to Vatican was changed to public transportation on your own, there and back. Vatican tour was changed from morning to evening, causing us to miss a visit to the church, as it had closed. Saw just a few of the museums. Stop in Bologna was short. Back to bus at noon, right when restaurants opened for lunch. No time to explore Assisi, except for a very short stop in the church. Too many cities in one day, not allowing for exploration on our own.

We had a great experience with Carrani Tours. At the last minute we needed someone to drive us from Florence to Panzano. All we needed was a ride but got so much more. Alessandro not only drove us through the beautiful Tuscany countryside but he made some stops so we could get great pics and shared a lot of history with us along the way. Highly recommend!

I took a tour with Carrani back in 2003. We boarded the bus in Rome, and went to through the Italian countryside, stopped and had lunch, and through the mountains to Pompeii (where I saw some ancient erotica painted on the walls of a well preserve Italian villa) and from there we went to Sorrento (or it might have been Capri). It was very nice. We felt very welcomed. I will visit Rome again soon, and Carani tours moves to the front of the line. Many Thanks Carani. Ciao.
