I have attended the Maker Faire Rome as exhibitor for the last 2 years and, as much as the event itself is great, the conditions of the infrastructure of the Fiera di Roma is a total disaster. Escalators rarely working (if the do they squeak like no tomorrow), bathrooms in poor conditions, uneven walkways... really not a great image for Italy.

Had I known it was this bad I would have just cancelled my attendance to the meeting. Bad place in an out of town location. Terrible food, dirty, run down and depressing. Getting there from the city takes at least an hour with public transport or +35 EUR with taxi. Hotels "near by" still far and bad. I couldn't wait to get out of there.

The center itself is not that bad, but it is located somewhere in the middle of nowhere between the airport and downtown rome. There are no hotels anywhere near, there are no restaurants, there is nothing out there. My conference organizers told me that there should be a cash machine at hall 10. I could not find it, so I asked: I was told that the machine was broke, and so it had been removed. Then, more specifically concerning my conference, the food was an absolute disaster. I have never eaten such a bad pizza / lasagna for some 10 Euros. This is ecompletely embarassing for Itally; never had food that bad in this country!

First - not a tourist attraction. This is a large, distant, and isolated convention space. Simply put - even at that, it is awful. Far from anything. No hotels nearby. Lots of time wasted getting here from anywhere in Rome. Not capable of truly handling a large convention. The worst I have ever seen, and I have attended large events in dozens of cities around the world. They should stop using this venue at all, but NEVER for a large event. They cannot handle it. Expect to spend at least one hour each way from center of Rome, and probably longer if you attend a large event. My recommendation --- skip the convention and get whatever you can get online. This is just not worth it.

This convention center is far away from anything else. There were 3 ways to get there by affordable public transportation: shuttle busses from two metro stations near the end of their lines and a slow train that left from a station that's about a 10 minutes' walk from a third metro station that, to make matters simple, has a different name from the train station. The congress center itself is much larger than it should be because there is too much room between the buildings. Take comfortable walking shoes and pray for no rain. The toilets, which fortunately did function properly, are outdated. In summary, the congress center is just not of the same calliber as similarly large ones elsewhere.
