The area
Address
Neighborhood: Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

I booked the shuttle to take us from the airport to Termini train station, the day before we arrived in Rome. Only $10 per person. The online booking was easy and their website gives you easy directions on how to find the bus. It goes every half hour. We were lucky enough to get on as soon as we got off the plane. They accept e-tickets on phone. We had to load our luggage underneath, but no big deal. The trip takes about an hour and if you have the time to spare it is a good way to see an every day snap shot of Rome. At the end of the journey, we asked the driver where the train station was and he was happy to respond. This is the cheapest way to get to Termini station, especially if your hotel is nearby or are training it to another town as we were.

It was a very cheap and convenient way for me to get to Piazza Cavour from the airport. Granted that I had just a small carry-on with me, I had no trouble boarding the bus and arrived at Piazza Cavour in 30 minutes paying 6€ only for the whole trip. The bus started boarding exactly as scheduled. I will definitely take it again.

This was a terrible experience. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!! The service was terrible!
Dear customer service,

My girlfriend and I had booked one of your shuttle buses to go from Rome to the airport via Omio.
However, when the bus arrived and we wanted to get on, we were told that, although we were in the front row, we had to wait so that some other passengers could get on the bus. The bus driver did not mention the reason why, but we didn't think much of it. When these people got on and we could finally get on the bus, the bus driver told us in a very rude way that the bus was full and that we should get lost. We asked if there wasn't a way to join because otherwise we wouldn't be able to catch our flight. But instead of answering, he looked at us, ignored us, got on the bus, closed the doors and drove off.

I think all of this is absurd. First of all, I think it is needless for me to say that I should be able to count on the fact that, after buying tickets, I can actually get on the bus. I do not understand that even though I made a reservation, the bus is full on arrival. Secondly, I think the way the shuttle service treated me, my girlfriend and all the other customers left behind is completely ridiculous.

Booked two tickets on line for a 16:00 bus, arrived at the stop well in advance. Representative at the bus stop checked our tickets and then sold other tickets to people who just turned up. Then the bus came with not enough space on the bus for the pre sold tickets and the ones sold at the bus stop, meaning we couldn’t get on the bus. Representative told us another bus was coming n “10 mins” . It came eventually at 16:30. Absolutely appalling service. If tickets are sold then you should be able to get on the bus. It’s not hard.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Tickets are open so customers can enjoy the time they want. There were many people and the bus was not enough, so we sent the second bus (additional one) to help travelers.

We were here 15 min before the 1:30 bus, but it was already full. So we had to wait 45 minutes for the next bus (they run every 30 min) from the airport. When the next one pulled up, to a long line of patiently waiting people, the company whisked a group of 20 teenagers, who had just arrived, right onto the bus, so only a few of us in the line were able to get on. It's about to depart and I see lots pf angry faces out my window. The bus itself is clean and nice, though the heater along the wall is dangerously hot; I accendentally rested my leg against it and was scalded. Not impressed.

Rude ticket inspector and driver making the process even more difficult and yelling. Not a nice way to end your holiday in Rome. Also you can bring only water to the bus, this was not mentioned anywhere during the booking. I recommend using the train instead to go to airport/Rome since it is more efficient, faster, and no yelling.

Pretty much faultless. I caught the bus at the Vatican stop. A staff member arrived 10 mins before the bus to check tickets. The bus arrived on time and we were quick to depart. Arrived on time at the airport outside Departures. Excellent value for money.

Terrible experience. I asked the driver if there was another stop (there are no maps to follow) near my hotel and he told me yes but obviously didn't understand me because next thing I know we turned to another part of town away from the area of my hotel. I realized the mistake 5 blocks after he started the bus and asked him to please stop. He refused and I had to stay in the bus until the next stop 40 minutes away. The driver was extremely rude. If he didn't understand the question he should just said so.

Dear customer, we advertise constantly about all stops and driver per procedure should call the stop once he arrived there. He could have not understood but surely he had to announce the bus stop. It happens that passengers get sure to be personally advised about it and don't understand when the bus stop is called. The procedure cannot be different because it rarely happens the driver recognizes the passenger when he is busy driving and there are a lot of passengers on board. The reason why he didn't let you drop off somewhere else is again a restriction and mandatory to avoid the suspension of our licence (safety obligations) Sorry for the inconvenience!

We booked a bus shuttle via SIT beforehand and after waiting at the airport for 45 minutes: no bus showed up. We took a different bus with another company. Same happened on the way back. At the central trainstation no SIT bus showed up at the indicated time. We just took another bus to make sure we didn't miss our flight.
At the Rome Ciamponi airport there are three bus services driving to the center. You can buy tickets for all three services with the chauffeur for 5 euro single trip. The advantage of NOT booking is you don't have to wait for your specific bus company. Just catch the first one that leaves.

Based on reviews here we didn't 'dare' to buy tickets via their website. We decided to take a look at their stand when we would arrive at Fiumicino. We arrived 9:20 at the SIT Shuttle Bus parking spot (upon exiting the Fiumicino terminal to the right) and the bus was already there. Both the driver and the ticket sales guy spoke 'enough' English and they told us that they (indeed) would stop near the Vatican and that they would leave at 9:40. We bought 2 tickets (€6,- per person) and the bus left at exactly 9:40. Wifi onboard worked fine (however on the way back to Fiumicino it didn't).

For our trip back to Fiumicino we also used the SIT shuttle and arrived at 17:05 at the bus stop, we bought two tickets and the bus would arrive at the stop at 17:25 (which turned out to be 17:35 because of traffic).

Conslusion:
If you are in doubt, just buy the tickets from the sales guy/girl at the bus stop and you're good to go. We would recommend this shuttle service to every Rome visitor.
