The statue is with its open center depicting the pope opening his robe to welcome and protect. But looks out of proportion - the head is big the face small... the robe look unnatural and the whole statue look more like a huge penguin from...More

I came across this statue of Pope John Paul II unexpectedly while on a bus stuck in traffic. It immediately caught my eye as it is at least 16ft tall with a billowing cape. I was struck by the simplicity and symbolism of this work...More

Just outside Rome’s central train station is a statue of Pope John Paul II by artist Oliviero Rainaldi titled “Conversations.” The 16-foot bronze sculpture shows the Pope John Paul II in his ecclesiastical robe with his arms outstretched in welcome. This is the statue that...More

I liked this statue and found it appealing in its simplicity. I'm not sure it's worth going out of your way to see it but due to its central location it's difficult to miss

What a beautiful Statue of the Holy Father. Very artistic. Like nothing I have ever seen before. I am so happy that I got the chance to see it. I didn't even know this statue existed.

It's just a statue. Nothing more. You can't even notice that is there. The surroundings are so dirty and filled with trash. There are many other things better than this.

Nothing special. Just a regular statue. Unless your hotel is located nearby, or you just happen to go through Termini, there is no point of seeing this statue.

Easy to see, just as easy to not bother to look at. If you want art, almost everything else is better than this. But seen as a comment to the Catholic priests child abuse scandals, it is very, very good.

The first time we passed this statue I was not sure - but on the many times we passed by after during our recent visit it became a warm welcoming symbol, which is what I feel the artist was trying to convey. At the end...More
