Beware of this place-their ice cream/coffee is a bit below average-service is adequate but they hit you with inflated bill-for example ice cream is E2.50 but if you sit and have it it is E5-go somewhere else

Pint of lager €8 and an apology for a sandwich ..... One side soggy and one crispy large slice turned over ( that is half a sandwich to you and me) €2 all I can say is don't go absolute rip off unless it was just us and they change the price.
Toilet leave a bit to be desired ...unisex !

We stayed in the B&B Maggiore during our week visit to Rome and this little gem of a restaurant was right outside!

From the outside it looks more like a British pub, old style green logo, the name of the place, and the various footy/rugby scarfs they had pinned up. It actually is a little family owned Italian restaurant with seating outside on the pavement overlooking the lovely Santa Maria Maggiore basilica, a lovely setting for an al fresco meal! And it's only 5mins from the Colosseum.

The restaurant do a specials menu which consists of a main pasta/pizza meal, a cold drink & a coffee afterwards for 12euros. I honestly think it was the best Carbonara and Gnocci I have ever had! It was fantastic, would highly recommend it. We were there for a week and visited 3 times we enjoyed it so much!

Only wrote this review as it was that fantastic and noticed hardly anyone on tripadvisor has mentioned it! Would really recommend. There is also a small doorway next to the restaurant which leads underground; this opens into a music pub at night but we didn't visit that so I can't comment.

PLEASE NOTE: The photo on tripadvisor is wrong, the restaurant does not look like this! But otherwise, an excellent restaurant I would recommend! Then head around the corner to the Druid's Den Irish bar for a few ciders!

On our previous trip to Rome this place was our daily stop and we loved it, sadly this time we were in Rome for 2 full weeks and it is closed down.

Came here 3 times over 7 days. Specials menu is pasta, coffee and drink for 12 euros and trust me you feel full. 8 had the gnocchi twice and tomato pasta another nights. Waiters friendly and very easy on the eye!! Very happy with this place and recommend. On the corner by shops and its opposite the St Maria Maggiore church. Excellent value and great food - cant say more! Boyfriend and I stayed local so went here before getting on the beers in druids den!!

We are a group of italian tourists (from Palermo, Siena and Trieste) who for desperation of a very hot day decided to sit in the first cafè scalabile: a huge mistake.

The service was pretty low and the waiter looked very confused; we ordered (thanks God, only) a coffee and a "fresh" orange juice.

The coffee was burnt and probably old, not expressed; the orange juice was the supermarket one you find in the juicebox, obviously not a clue of freshness.

Best part was the bill, asked twice: 3 euros for the coffee and 6 euros for the juice, we were speechless.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!

Would help if the place opened. Was not located far from hotel so I thought I would try it out. Loaded up my google maps and off I went only to discover the place never opens. During my stay I walked past this place several time it just always seems to be closed.
