Walking around Roma is always a surprising and interesting experience. This short visit to Rome, before a week on the Amalfi coast and a week in Sicily, included a terrific food tour of the Campo Fiori, Jewish Ghetto and Travesterre areas, as well as a visit to the Borghese Gallery for a view of their 6 Caravaggio paintings. All absolutely recommended.

Food tours are a great way to start exploring a city and country!
We loved Federico’s energy. We were educated about the various cheeses used in Italian cooking. I was so surprised and loved the visit to the Forno to sample the type of pizza the Romes love. We learned about the “Fab 4” … the four pasta dishes that make up what most Nona’s cook.
We learned about the origin of fried foods in Italian cooking. Who would have know !
Of course we could not finish without stopping for gelato.
Thank you for a great evening . Highly recommend it as you learn about the communities and a bit of history too.

This was a great tour. Natasha, our guide, was enthusiastic and informative both about typical Roman food and the areas of Rome through which we walked. The food offerings were substantial and delicious. I’d highly recommend this tour.

We went on the 16:30 tour with Federicia ”Fede” and she was amazing. She gave a very good account of Rome’s history, food and culture. She had a very inclusive, warm and positive way and made us all feel at home.

It's Feb 11, a nice sunny day where we met our guide. A wonderful cheerful girl + she was born in Rome. I was visiting a Jesuit friend in Roma and this was my gift to him.
It was just the 2 of us and it was brilliant. The pizza, pasta, the Jewish ghetto plus the wine. The afternoon was prefect and no need to find a place for dinner. One must take a Food Tour where every one travels.

The food was average, but outstanding gelato at the end. Great guide whose name I can’t recall who gave us lots of history and cultural info. We love food tours and this did not disappoint.

We met our guide at an easy to find location! The food was absolutely delicious! We ate homemade pasta dishes, arancini, zucchini blossoms, homemade cheeses, meats, and the best gelato! We walked around Rome and learned a lot as well! This tour is a must do when in Rome.

Thank you so much , we live to keep the menu seasonal. Many people comes to Rome thrilled to taste the famous recipes like the fried artichoke or the puntarelle for example. But many do not know that those products are seasonal. To offer you an authentic selection and the food that local people eat, on our tours you will find only the best food of the season. Happy you loved it

So we did two food tours in Rome - had we only done this on we probably would’ve been happy enough with it, the guide was reasonably knowledgeable, we got to try the headline specialties, and there was a walk through some gorgeous parts of Rome; but having done a sunset food tour of the Prati district first, we really noticed the differences between the two offerings- this one had one or two things to try at each stop and the quality was ok - but at Prati we had platters of different cheeses, cured meats etc and wine at almost every stop... after this experience I felt like I’d ticked some tourist boxes, after Prati I felt like I’d been properly introduced to the Roman Food scene and had a greater appreciation for Italian food and wine in general - it just depends what you want your experience to be - but I’ll be sticking with the company that did the Prati tour.

I am looking at the other 5 stars and i am guessing i was just dealt a rare bad card !?

I have done a few Food tours in the past so I convinced my good friends to take one at their 1st Italian trip.

We did our homework and chose this Gourmetaly tour due to it's high rating on Trip Advisor and we liked the itinerary.

However, all 4 people in my party were very disappointed. I don't leave negative reviews often but I owe it to the TripAdvisor community to tell it how it was.

The guide: During the greeting we found out that the guide was leading one of her first tours as a leader, which in itself is not necessarily a bad thing as you'd expect guides to be properly trained/educated on the subject. She is a very polite/sweet person and had the best intentions but it is our opinion that she should've shadowed other experienced guides a few more times before leading on her own. She didn't have a commanding voice and was unable to cut through the noise and shepherd the group properly. She was not very knowledgeable about the Jewish Gueto and just skimmed the surface as far its history. There was no "food stop" on the guetto (not the guide's fault on that one). She had a few anecdotal info about her upbringing but didn't even seem that passionate about food. The whole tour was somewhat superficial in all it's aspects.

The food was 'meh' at best.

Gourmetaly should partner with more enthusiastic owners. Guide did not seem to have a good rapport w/ the restaurant managers. I would even been open to being "up sold" some products along the way (oil, etc) but some owners seemed to have been down-right annoyed to receive us in their establishment...except for the ones with no business at all.

I am a big fan of food tours and have done other amazing ones but unfortunately this ranks the lowest by a large gap.
