We used Rome 4 kids tours for 2 private tours in August. We specifically picked this company as they appeared to offer the greatest opportunity to personalize itinerary, as well as, some help in beating the crowds. Our first day we had a lovely, young guide. He was very young and a little nervous but he showed us around the Colosseum and the Forum and kept my teens engaged. He knew where we should stop and rest in the shade and knew what to see first to minimize wait times- which was one of the main reasons for using their private guide. However, he clearly had been give a script by the company and if we asked a question that wasn’t in line with his script, he was thrown off. The second trip we did a private tour for the “exclusive” access to the Vatican before it opens to the public. I believe we got there at 7am, we received several emails from the company saying we must be on time, so we were on time. Our tour guide was late and we still waited at least a half hour to get in. Before the tour, I had emailed the company and given them some things we were most interested in seeing there. When we met our guide, we again mentioned this to her. However, she also had a script to follow and ignored what we had requested. The guide was very sweet but her English was not that good. We often could not understand her. She tried hard but she seemed unprepared for the crowds at the Vatican. We had a 3 hour tour with her and after abt 2hours, 45min. She basically said “so you don’t need to see anymore do you?” While we didn’t have a bad time, this tour was incredibly expensive and we expected more. It was not the custom, personalized experience we were looking for.
