As the Eternal City, Rome is the epitome of culture, elegance, and style. Paola personifies Rome. Paola is a wonderful tour guide. She is brilliant, gregarious, personable, and easygoing. I can't say enough about how much Paola accentuates the beauty of Rome. If you have the chance to enlist her services, I would highly recommend you take full advantage. Enjoy Rome with a Roman citizen. Thank you Paola for our tour, and the fun adventures you guided us through!!

So talented and sympathetic Paola! A great lover of her city who, between a monument and an ancient ruin, tells the uses and customs of ancient Rome, ranging from politics to current events. Beautiful immersion in imperial Rome. Thanks Paola!!!

Amazing tour with Paola. My family - 1 year old, 3 year old, wife, 75yr old mother and family friend did two days' worth of tours with Paola last week of the Vatican, Colosseum, and Forum. It was a perfect pairing with Paola and our group as her energy, love of children, knowledge of subject matter, and overall passion for Rome was second to none. We have done private tours of Rome in previous years, but will go back to Paola in years to come. Fantastic guide with a wonderful personality who makes things so enjoyable...especially when it comes with the kiddos.

My dear Chris, Many thanks for the lovely words about me! I was so happy to share time with all the members of your fantastic family! Your kids are adorable and so cute....I really enjoyed every minute spent together! Please give a big hug for me to them. I'll wait to meet you again one day. A huge big thanks for your review, a lot of people promised to me to do that but just few of them did, This makes what you have done so much more appreciated. Merry Christmas and Happy new year! Paola

Had a great tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum with Paola. She was very friendly and fun and loves kids, and adapted the tour to accommodate our kids ages 8-14. She made it much easier to navigate entering and getting through both sites. She got us into a less crowded location in the Colosseum to view the underground portion (apparently only tour guides can get you past the security to enter). There was a crowd at the entrance to the Forum and it would have been much more confusing without her. She gave us lots of interesting and enlightening history and information. Thank you, Paola!

We did two incredible tours with Paola, Vatican Museum and St. Peter’s Basilica on day one and the Coliseum and Roman Forum on day two. Paola easily navigated us through all events so our waiting in line was very minimal. She educated us in a way that made us want to learn more when we got home. She has a great command of the English language, a fun sense of humor and great respect of what Rome has to offer. We will definitely reconnect on any return trips.

Smart, informative, engaging and funny tour guide! Well worth the money to hire Paola as she knows how to best use your time to get the most out of seeing and learning about The Vatican and Ancient Rome (2 separate tours). We have used tour guides in other countries and she was one of the best! Recommended by a friend to me and now I pass along to you!

Let me start by saying that Paola was knowledgeable and energetic. While Paola has great reviews posted by others, our poor rating is a result of the last 20 minutes with her.

We took a private Vatican tour with Paola. This was a splurge for our family. The private tour was roughly $520 US dollars for our family of four.

Communication with Paola prior to our trip was very good - especially given the conclave at the Sistine Chapel. We were unsure if we would be able to take the tour on the date we had arranged - in the end it all worked out as planned.

We got mixed up with our meeting place (our fault) and were 30 minutes late to meet her. I was flustered and upset - especially since this was to be a major highlight of our trip. She was warm and gracious when we met her and told me not to worry - we are on vacation.

The tour was informative - packed with lots of information. Our two teenagers got a lot out of it and she was able to answer our questions with ease. The museum is quite overwhelming -- it's a lot to take in.

We started in the outdoor area -- the courtyards. She spent too much time here. Well over 1 hour. While there were points of interest, the inside of the museum is where she should have focused. The extra time spent here resulted in us missing the area of the museum just prior to entering the Sistine Chapel. This is the room dedicated to the immaculate conception of the Virgin Mary. It was so beautiful, and we only got a glimpse. We had to rush through to get into the chapel.

The turning point for us was at the end of our tour. Prior to entering the Sistine Chapel there were opportunities to purchase books, rosaries and other religious items. I asked Paola about buying rosary beads for family back home and she insisted that she take us to a nice shop that would not be too expensive. We finished our tour in St. Peters Basilica.

Paola then took us to the shop down the street - introduced us to a woman making mosaics, which we could purchase, of course.... and then I chose a set of rosary beads for my Aunt. I then proceeded to pay Paola the 190 euro balance of her 390 euro pre-arranged fee. When I handed her 200 euro, she looked at me, smiled and said that I had paid for only 4 hours, but it is now 3:00pm and she has given us 5 hours. She basically insisted to be paid for an additional hour.

*** (Just before finishing up in St. Peters, I had checked my watch it was close to 2:30. -- Our meeting time was 10:00, but being late, we started at 10:30. I guess I just "assumed" that the tour "started" at 10:30 - especially since she was so reassuring when I was visibly upset for being delayed. The walk to the shop and the time spent there was about 25 minutes. And quite frankly, I'm not sure why Paola waited with us.) ***

It was a very uncomfortable moment, with Paola looking at me - basically waiting for me to hand over more euro. I did so, and we parted ways.

Unfortunately, this situation left such a bad taste in my mouth. Basically ruined the rest of the day for me and my family. We walked away from the Vatican without even taken a photo of the outside of St. Peters Square - we were stunned by her behavior. Even now - almost one week later - I am still upset and very much disappointed about how the day turned out.

As a professional, Paola should have started the tour by saying that our tour would be 3.5 hours, since we were late - since this was obviously the case based on the events I just described. She could have indicated that if we wanted additional time, there would be a fee. She could have easily taken our 30 minute delay into consideration and skipped parts of the tour, such as the courtyard area, in order to accommodate this 4-hour schedule. And/Or she could have given us the "15 -30 minute warning" per se, and asked us if we had any other questions etc. because we'd be ending our time soon.

There was so much to see and digest on this tour that it would be easy for anyone to lose track of time. We were not leading the tour - Paola was. Paola displayed a lack of professionalism in her decision to extend the tour without asking us first. Lastly, taking us to the store and staying with us and then CHARGING us for this time was simply unacceptable.

Oh, and those 15 euro rosary beads I purchased at the store she took us to? We found the same exact ones for sale down the street for 3 euro. We couldn't help to conclude that she has some sort of connection with this store.

It's a shame that those last minutes changed everything for us. In the end, we felt taken advantage of.

We would not recommend Paola to our family or friends.

My husband booked a surprise trip to Rome for my birthday! On the first morning we went to the Vatican and met Paola, he had simply asked her to sort out a full day, we were not disappointed!!! We started with a good few hours in the Vatican; Paola's knowledge and passion for Rome was amazing, however we noticed that all of the other tours were walking past very interesting artifacts where Paola would whisk us Into a particular area so that she could bring the history to life. (You spend lots of money to visit Rome so make sure you get a guide that is not simply a talking guide book). After a great lunch we moved to Ancient Rome with the Coliseum; while the Vatican was beautiful this was simply amazing. She managed to capture the essence of the building, explaining both the engineering and 'gladiator battles'. We had an amazing experiemce, Paola was more like a friend by the end of the day.

Visited Rome on a shore excursion with P&O and we were fortunate to have Paola as /our guide. She was fun and informative with English good enough to make jokes! We had a flying visit to the Colosseum, St Peters Square and the Trevi fountain which was at a good pace and she filled us in on all sorts of interesting things as we were walking along too.
