- Steve CMinneapolis, Minnesota7 contributionsNot your typical tastingThis was the most leisurely, informative, fun wine experience we have ever had, and we have had many others....Paola, the Rimessa Sommelier was our guide for the evening. We had signed up for the Italian wine tasting, but our first wine was an amazing Puligny-Montrachet. This may have been to introduce Paola's message, "if you want perfection, go to France, if you want to have fun, come to Italy". Paola explained that there are over 800 grape varietals in Italy and that for the moment tradition is more important than money. This was refreshing having recently been to Napa and trying the last vintage of a Cabernet Franc, because the vines were being torn out because Cabernet Savingon fetched four times the price. That's not to say we didn't sample Italian perfection, with a 2005 Sassicia(450 euros) and a Gaja Barbaresco (350 euros), but we had some very interesting wines from areas we would never heard of. Paolo would get out the wine map of Italy and point to a tiny island between Sicily and the mainland or some tiny spot near the Austrian border where a raisinated white wine was made. Or a similarly remote producer that makes a red wine from tiny grapes that has a nose like a Moroccan tangine. We see Brunello di Montalcino wine from Casanovi di Neri and Gaja, but Paolo introduced us to the producer who is the most respected producer, which we had never seen as well as some other producers we thought made better wine. The same for Barbaresco. And that's just the wine. The kitchen does an amazing job as well. We happened to be there during white truffle season and we had a sous vide egg with potato puree and shave white truffle. The trio of mozzarella di buffalo was amazing as well. We also signed up for the wine club, which is a very good value compared to some of the Napa clubs. We hope the club is as interesting and challenging as the tasting.Visited December 2019Traveled as a coupleWritten February 10, 2020
- RSS94Hounslow, United Kingdom117 contributionsBrilliant experienceI booked the wine tasting dinner online in advance not knowing what to expect. This is a brilliant group experience. The sommelier was highly knowledgeable and engaging. We enjoyed all of the food, the Cacio e Pepe was our favourite. Highly recommend this experience for a fun different evening in Rome and we felt the price was very reasonable for the 5pm sitting.make sure you come hungry! there are 8 courses which were deceptively filling. We are glad we booked the earlier sitting as by the time we were leaving the restaurant it was becoming louder and it would have been more difficult to listen to all of the wine explanations.Visited November 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten November 11, 2022
- StuAbbyPoynton, United Kingdom65 contributionsA Must Do Experience! What a fantastic afternoon we had with Chef Lily! We decided to book the cookery course due to the heavy rain which was due, and this was the best decision of the holiday! We were welcomed by the friendly team at Rimessa Roscioli and made to feel at home straight away. During our three hour session we made three pasta dishes, meatballs and tiramisu. Lily was fantastic in accommodating my lactose intolerance and adapted each dish as required. We loved making each course from scratch, especially the pasta making - my husband, who is a complete novice feels that even he could have a go at recreating the tasty meals at home. During our tasting, we also enjoyed various wines to accompany our food. The sommelier was very knowledgeable in the wines we sampled and educated us on the grape, region and blend of each wine. If you are looking to do something a bit different on a trip to Rome I would thoroughly recommend this. Delicious food, great hospitality and but most importantly culinary skills that can used in the future. Thank you so much for a fabulous afternoon - definitely a highlight of our trip! We booked the wine tasting menu and sampled 8 fabulous wines from all over Italy paired with delicious local food, all of top notch quality. All of the wines were accompanied by an explanation and I certainly came away with more knowledge about Italian wine varieties! The sommelier was great and despite being a busy Saturday night he gave us adequate time and attention. It’s a nice, buzzy space and good to see it was popular with both Italian people and tourists.Written February 4, 2020

- MargaritaThessaloniki, Greece21 contributionsKeeping the quality bar at the highest standard! When in Rome I always make sure to visit one of the different Roscioli spaces, and so far I have never been let down once by the quality and service. This time I decided to give Rimessa Roscioli a try. I had the "Rimessa" six-wine tasting menu. The menu consisted of a sampling of authentic Roman specialties, prepared to perfection and absolutely splendid in their simplicity. All the products and ingredients were of top quality, from the food to the bread and olive oil. The wines were all excellent, picked from different Italian regions, and carefully selected to match every dish. The sommelier was outstanding, very knowledgable, friendly and very attentive, even though I was dining solo and there were other larger groups of people to tend to. Last but not least, the prices were very reasonable and great value for money. Overall it was a top dining and wine-tasting experience, and goes highly recommended! Rimessa Roscioli is yet another proof that the Roscioli name has been consistently synonymous with top quality food in Rome. Can't wait to go back!Visited February 2020Written February 12, 2020
- KXLingleSioux Falls, South Dakota105 contributionsAbsolutely wonderful experience - would do again. My brother and I scheduled an afternoon cooking class in English and were not disappointed in the slightest. Lily was absolutely wonderful as an instructor and somewhat tailored the experience to address questions that we had about traditional Roman cooking. She was so pleasant and approachable throughout providing explanations of what we were doing, etc. Marloes was our sommelier and was incredibly knowledgable and also so friendly. Wine can be intimidating in general, and I'm more a "drink what I like" rather than going off names/vineyards, and she was not snobby about this at all. The wine tastings all came with explanations and demonstration on a map regarding their origin, which I find very helpful as I am a visual learner. I can't say enough how much I enjoyed this entire experience. The food was wonderful, the wines all rather good (some I liked more than others, but this is subjective), and the staff just made this class worth attending. When I return to Rome at about the end of the year, I will definitely return - given the options to do a wine tasting, cooking demonstration, or full on class, I do not anticipate I will be disappointed! I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys food and wine, and who might be looking at a bit of a break from the hustle and bustle of Rome.Visited February 2023Written February 21, 2023

- Karen F3 contributionsWow’d me the 1st time, disappointed me the 2nd visitI had really hoped to leave 5 stars until last nights visit. We were just there for dinner a couple nights before and had 5 star service and excellent food. The best night really and wanted to experience it again. So we made a reservation when we left night one and even picked out the table seating where we’d like to sit. It was great to know we’d even get to sit in our same seats! So we get here last night and I already knew just walking in something was very off. We get seated at the end of a long table and when I asked if we could have the other seats I was told they were already reserved for someone else. Wait staff was so scattered. There were only two other tables with people but it took 10 min to get a glass of wine. One of the wait staff had been crying so my guess is they were all preoccupied by something. Food was ok. Better the first night. The desserts we ordered were completely different tasting than the first night. It was all just really disappointing because we were so excited to come back and have that amazing experience again. The people seated behind us were irritated as well and I can only imagine how the rest of the night was going to go for then if it was only 6pm on Valentine’s Day and they are expecting a full house. Would I go back again? Yes, I would because I’d want to give them a chance to wow me again.Visited February 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten February 14, 2023

It doesn't let you select the activity here, and I want to start by stating that we did the Wine Tasting Dinner, as I don't want this to reflect poorly on the food itself.
We were so looking forward to this as we read a lot of good reviews, and I'm surprised that there are not worse ones on here.
We did a wine tasting dinner as a couple, with about 10 other people.
The highlight of this was definitely the food, and the company at the table that we got talking to.
The service was terrible from start to finish. The waitress was rude and dispassionate. She didn't seem to know that much about the wine, other than region and basic tasting notes. Lastly, this woman yelled at her food runner. I noticed it because of where I was sitting and it happened behind our table. I was appalled, especially given that his level of attention to our table was so nice. He was very friendly and clearly helpful, but she was on a power trip and seemed to abuse her position in relation to his. This made me really upset, and soured my entire experience.
If you do plan to go to this restaurant, I suggest scrapping the wine tasting and just go a la carte.

The wines were all good measures and showed the sheer breadth of wine choices you have in Italy. Also all were from small “boutique” wineries which meant you had to judge the wines on quality and not reputation.

We booked a wine flight as advertised on the website as a wine tasting of either 5 to 8 wines not in a group setting. However, when we arrived we were lumped into a large group sat at two tables. One table was a large family with 4 children age range between a baby and a young teen. The children were left to their own devices and it was incredibly distracting to watch a baby throw pasta around, listen to cartoons on their ipads, and watch the teens sit with their feet on top of the dining table. A wine tasting should be an adult experience and given that we did not book a group tasting it was even more dissappointing. Additionally, the wines served were not exceptional and the pours were given sometimes 10 or 15 minites before the food pairing was served, wasting an incredible amount of time. Due to the size of the group and the demands of the children, the service was chaotic and left us wanting to leave early. They can and should do better. This experience was a huge waste of money and time.

This was the top recommendation of an acquaintance who has been to Rome many time, and I can see why! We got the 7-course tasting with wine pairings and it was the standout meal of our entire trip. Our sommelier, Virginia, was so knowledgeable and overall lovely. The wines she selected were delicious on their own, but they also hit that perfect alchemy with each course that you want out of a pairing, without fail.
I couldn't possibly choose a favorite dish, but there was a fascinating one with preserved lemon and mackerel, two very strong flavors in perfect balance, that blew us away.
Rimessa Roscioli is definitely on the itinerary next time we're in Rome! Can't wait!

We came here on the recommendation of family friends. It was just ok compared with our other dining experiences in Rome. The sommelier was quite pretentious, scoffing at our choice of wine type and then proceeding to recommend an average wine (one of their house labels). The bread and pasta courses were good. The meatballs were bland. I would skip this one unless you want to drink wine with other English-speaking tourists.

Not that it matters, but just curious, how far is the restaurant from Gemme Di Roma, Via Gaeta 64, Central Station 00185, Rome? Thanks.

Hello, yes, we have a spanish speaking sommelier but you would not be with the group as she does not lead the tasting that evening. Let us know if you prefer to do the tasting on your own with her. Best if you contact us directly by email...

It sounds like this is only for wine tasting and food sampling. Is it available for just dinner?

Hi Jill,
Yes, we are also a restaurant! Just book online with us using the online form for the ‘restaurant or tasting bar’ and you can dine instead of doing a pairing menu. We have nearly 75 wines by the glass, including premium wines poured with Coravin like Gaja and Sassicaia, and a seasonally changing menu based mainly on traditional Roman and Italian cuisine with top quality selections similar our other location, Salumeria Roscioli. A presto!

I want to book the tasting and dinner option, but I am a vegetarian. Are there meatless dinner options?
