About
The Sistina is one of the most important and representative Italian theaters, one of the best known abroad too, thanks to the international stars who have performed there. Its popularity arises above all thanks to the incessant activity of Garinei and Giovannini who in 46 years of management have given the theater famous masterpieces. The Sistina has hosted the greatest artists and the most popular musical performances on its stage: from Louis Armstrong to Burt Bacharach, from Liza Minnelli to Dionne Warwick to Woody Allen, from Rugantino to Cats, from Jesus Christ Superstar to Mamma Mia! Massimo Romeo Piparo, who has been at the helm of the completely renovated historic theater since July 2013 is one of the most important director for musical in Italy.

Neighborhood: Colonna
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very center of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping center, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.

It is a famous and historical theater of Rome, located in Via Sistina, not far from Piazza Barberini and its metro station.
It was inaugurated in 1949 as a cinema-theater on a design of the architect Marcello Piacentini.
Its shape and style refer to a hall (28 meters wide and 30 meters deep) without columns and other structures, which allows the public to view the show from every order of seats.
It is rather beautiful, but it's getting old and needs some urgent updating.
The seats are rather uncomfortable and small, and really too close one to another one.
It's time for a change.

Contrary to what other theaters do, there are no discounts on the cost of tickets for 100% disabled people with accompaniment. That is, the discount consists of a reduction of 5 euros as long as you go to the theater in person days in advance and show the necessary documentation for purchasing the ticket.
I pointed out that other theaters in Rome have a different sensitivity towards disabled people by making them pay a reduced ticket and the companion a courtesy ticket with a cost from 0 to 5 euros (Quirino, Sala Umberto, Brancaccio. Auditorium etc.).
My opinion is that encouraging a disabled person to frequent places of leisure greatly facilitates their condition, therefore the structures that allow this are commendable.
The response given by the Sistina theater to my complaint was: "every theater has its own rules". Incontestable.

Expensive tickets for a theater completely in need of renovation. but the real shame are the pre-sale costs more than 7 euros per ticket to which are added more than 11 euros of commissions (on online purchase). So on two tickets already sufficiently expensive, I spent almost 30 euros more in extra costs. Shameful. I would add that tickets are not refundable, nor changeable.

We went to see Enrico Brignano's show "The Seven Kings of Rome", (good), but the theater will be historic, it is certainly part of the history of Rome, but it is an uncomfortable that you can not say. Small, narrow seats with a low backrest. Three hours of performance a martyrdom. Never again. With what the tickets cost, it could be given an upgrade.

Located in a beautiful neighboorhood in Rome, this theater has a nice and fast staff with comfortable seats and great organization. I saw Swan lake on ice and it was wonderful!

I've seen Billy Elliot in many countries and there're only two countries I went back for a second show: Iceland and Italy (except for the original West End version in London which I've seen countless times)

They have found two very talented boys to play Billy, Simone and Alessandro,
Christian was playing Michael was one of the funniest boy I've seen in the role.

Michaelangelo's finest paintings are a joy to behold. Stay a long time and don't be put off by the crowds. Make sure you have a guide to the ceiling (Fodor's Italy book provides an excellent detailed analysis). Stunning...although the rest of the Vatican Museum was also excellent.

Boring show, obsolete, too long, I laughed on very few occasions. It was a fitting show 50 years ago. A failed musical.
