Unfortunately this is not open and pretty much a building site currently. Looks like it will be an interesting place once it is ready.

How many years is this important place going to be under wraps? You can read a bit about it on the fence & boards outside but that is it. Built in 28BC by and for Augustus, it was due to be opened to the public...More

This attraction was on the top of my list and the internet said restoration would be completed by April. It’s still fenced in and tourists can’t go in. I was disappointed because I wanted to see the Monument Augustus had planned for himself after he...More

There's been some progress on stabilization and preservation of this important archaeological site. The Mausoleum has rarely been open to the public, and this project is designed to get the site to that stage. The scaffolding is down, but there is clearly work going on,...More

I was very much looking forward to visiting and went along this afternoon only to find it is all fenced off with no access at all. There was also scaffolding and metal fencing up. There was no sign saying how long it was closed for....More

Mausoleo di Augusto on Piazza Augusto Imperatore is still under intensive renovation. The "ruins" are completely fenced off and you can only see some of the information written on the timber boards outside. Do check the work completion time prior to visit this museum when...More

This is still closed down and being restored, so as others have mentioned, you can just catch a place or two thru the fences. If you work your way all the way around, there is one pretty good view of the entrance.

Mausoleo di Augusto is full of history about a great personality. This is the "final resting place" of the man who changed the course of history in so many ways. Visiting it would be a wonderful experience if only to just be there. It's only...More

Only a few stolen views through a fence are available. If this would be the only reason you head to this area, check and make sure the renovation is completed first.

Will be closed for a while as the renovation will be extensive. You can still see much if the building and read the information boards. There are other interesting things in the area to see including The Ara Pacis - an alter of peace build...More

The mausoleum was being redone, I was there a few months ago and doubt if they have made major progress on it. Two sides had fences that covered up all but the top. If you walk around it, there is a way to walk into... More
