A must see with easy access
Mar 2020
Astonishingly no long ques, easy access, the entrance-fees (Euro 17,--) reasonable. Plan quite some time to visit, we stayed about 3 hours and could not see all. Nice park to relax in between the visits.

Great place but too busy
Jan 2020
Possibly it is fantastic first time here, but this time, I don’t know, maybe too many people, didn’t get the wow feeling it deserves.
It is part of the Vatican Museum ticket and take your time to have a look.
It is my forth time and certainly not the last.
Next time I come even earlier.

Entry with Vatican Museum Tickets
Oct 2019 • Couples
We booked lunch and entry to the Sistine chapel and Vatican Museums direct online not via a third party. The lunch was the worst meal I’ve ever had. Please don’t do this option as it was truly inedible. Grab a pizza at the other caffe, that’s not great and over priced but your some what limited as it takes hours to get round the museums. When eventually on the chapel, the queue out the museums to get there is huge, it’s stunning. There’s limited seating and you get squashed and ushered in and out quite quickly. The “secret” door to the basilica that tour guides use is now guarded so don’t even bother trying. I don’t know if u can visit the chapel without a museum ticket but that might be worth trying to get if you don’t want to see the Vatican museums. It’s definitely worth going to though and we enjoyed seeing such famous art works.

Be prepared to wait until almost the end of the museum tour to enter and ´no pictures allowed’
Oct 2019 • Couples
You literally have to wait until almost the end of the museum tour before being crammed into the room of the Sistine chapel with hundreds of people then learning you can’t take pictures. The room is soo overcrowded that the security cannot keep an eye on everyone so most manage to snap at least 1 picture. The art work is amazing to witness still.

So disappointed
Oct 2019 • Family
Biggest disappointment of our trip. Was really looking forward to this. Took ages to get through the rest of the Vatican Museums to reach it as was so busy. Ushered into a room that was like a cattle market with crowds of people wandering around. Ceiling is beautiful but difficult to enjoy it as noisy and busy.

Awesome!!
Oct 2018
We took the Vatican Museum tour and this was the final room. It was gorgeous!!! There is no talking and no photos and guards will watch you closely but you can spend all the time you want looking at the art.

A Must
Sep 2019 • Couples
The entire museum is spectacular but the history and incredible beauty of this place is very special. Be respectful while you are there. Take the audio tour ... it is worth it.

Was a little of a let down
Sep 2019 • Family
After seeing the Vatican museums first this was a little of let down, especially when you think of saint peters basilica.

Was also surprised at how disrespectful some people were, it’s clear to cover your knees and shoulders but some didn’t seem to care once they got in. Also silence wasn’t observed 😔

Well
Aug 2019 • Family
Hate to say this but...a little overhyped. I enjoyed the Vatican museum collection and St Peters more. There is nothing in this human tuna can but the famous paintings and you need binoculars and a flexible neck to even see them. Hard to appreciate the work of Michelangelo incorporated (the team that brought you this monumental achievement) with so many idol worshippers crowding in there. Study each fresco online instead to appreciate the artistry. If you need a laugh for relief just gaze 2 frescos west of the creation of man. There is a giant bent over arse mooning the hypocrites who insist women's shoulders are a profane abomination in God's house. Michelangelo clearly sensed the future. Thank God for him!!!

Disappointed
Aug 2019 • Family
We visited in August, it was so hot and humid. We set off my husband in chinos and my son in jeans (have to wear clothes past the knee) my daughter in short shorts (with a scarf ready to make a skirt when we arrived) I had a long linen skirt on which I wore doubled up as a mini skirt, it was so hot I can’t tell you. After total confusion finding how best to get tickets, the tours and sea of men trying to sell everything is quite overwhelming at all the sights, in fact it’s just awful. We got in. The museum and paintings were amazing and really enjoyable. We talked the kids through lots of the bible history from a very unknowing view but just what we had learnt. We couldn’t read half the little signs describing what the artwork was as most of them appeared to have half the words rubbed off? So strange as it seems to be all the English ones!
After that it was an absolute shambles. Masses through with HUGE guided tours stopping mid Way all the time, masses of people who just took over the walkways. To get the the chapel you are shoe horned into a corridor with steps going down, it’s boiling. There is no way out and it’s at standstill. If there was a fire there is no getting out of there.
We saw many people in shorts (men) and women in vest tops and shorts, there were signs to cover up and all that. But we went in and it was apparent it actually doesn’t matter at all! You can wear what you want. My son had chaffed all his legs in the heat with jeans on, my husband sweating with a back pack and trousers on. My daughter and I were fine in our stuff and no need to cover up at all. It spoilt the whole day for us because why bother making this a rule if it isn’t a rule? Maybe they need to update this to advise in summer this is not necessary. The chapel was beautiful and the art is amazing. But it was a farce, is this just a huge money making scheme? There were so many people in here, not quiet, not sacred. People taking photos. Well we just walked out. We walked around in jeans and trousers all day and it was such a shame. Make sure to do your research guys as the staff are so unhelpful and rude. Don’t buy anything from the touts - there is no queue jump ticket!!
Such a shame.
