The museum is just amazing, at the same level with Louvre, Prado or the Ermitage. It is not only about sculpture or paintings, but also about history, geography or the role of Pope as an institution. But you need a lot of time and patience to visit. Internet tickets highly recommended.

Possibly it is fantastic first time here, but this time, I don’t know, maybe too many people, didn’t get the wow feeling it deserves.
It is part of the Vatican Museum ticket and take your time to have a look.
It is my forth time and certainly not the last.
Next time I come even earlier.

Booked this tour primarily to get a private viewing of the Sistine Chapel and were not disappointed. In fact, the entire tour exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend this tour as the best way to visit the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Our tour guide Doriana was exceptional and her passion for Vatican and Renaissance Art history was clearly evident. She was informative and inspirational and clearly has a special relationship with Vatican security staff as we were allowed to go into rooms and take pictures where the general public is normally prohibited. I know this tour is relatively expensive, but believe me, it is worth every penny. You will leave with memories and pictures that will never be forgotten and have an unique experience that few visitors to the Vatican get to enjoy.

Even though i had read that in order to avoid the queue you should have bought an online ticket in advance, unfortunately i didn't. I though that since it is December it' s a low season so let's try it and i ended up paying more. There were so many willing guides outside Vatican, trying to persuade you to have a paid tour and save time from the queue that at the end made me believe them unfortunately. Just be careful with what they are telling you. I was told that there was a huge queue but there was not since it is a low season, i was told that last minute i was not able to book on line, but as soon as i had wifi i tried to book online and i could. I was told that i had to pay two entrance fees for the museum and st peters but the ticket at the end is the same. I was told that i would have a guided tour for st peters but the guide explained everything outside and then left us. So i would not recommend the private tours of agent Celsi Norma. Do not believe what they are telling you trying to persuade you to pay 50 euro per person. And of course be proactive and buy your ticket online, you will save money and time

Astonishingly no long ques, easy access, the entrance-fees (Euro 17,--) reasonable. Plan quite some time to visit, we stayed about 3 hours and could not see all. Nice park to relax in between the visits.

POOR customer service at rome-museum.com. You don't get your money back, even if it isn't your fault you miss the tour!! My case was a serious incident at the subway, that took more than 30 min to sort out. I'm sure the museums are worth seeing, but DO NOT USE these skip-the-line crap!!

Like most tourists, we tried to plan to avoid the lines into major attractions, except being peak summer time, tickets were sold out well in advance. My husband and I are always skeptical when people approach us offering to skip the queue but we decided to try the tour to beat the crowd. We should have known when the man handed us off to his colleague who took us to the storefront a few streets down that it would have been a scam stating "only small group, get in quick with English speaking guide" More like "a huge group of 50+, standing in random streets to "visualize" what the inside of the Vatican would be like". The tour guide was humorous but that can only last so long once your standing outside for an hour wondering when it will actually begin. When he finally took us into the Vatican museum we were basically herded like cattle, asked to follow the sounds of his calls "who do you love?" Amongst the chaos of people trying to get in. Once we did get in, we lost the guide, but really, how can one person make sure that all 50+ are accounted for. He kept making fun of all the other tour groups for "having the sticks" to follow, but maybe it's for a good reason. Once we lost him we tried to roam the museum on our own. Frustrated that our audio was in Italian (not English) we headed back to the storefront to a rather rude receptionist (eye rolling included) who refused to give us a refund. I agreed to pay the cost of the museum ticket but her argument was that "we were in, and we went on the first half of the tour". (Ok she did give us 10euros back after quite a long argument) If you want to try skipping the line, do NOT go with capital museum tours. I would have rather waited 2+ hours for a free admission into St. Peter's than endure the 2+ hours playing hide and seek with our tour guide trying to understand a poorly explained history lesson. We waisted 87 euros. Lesson learned.

We booked lunch and entry to the Sistine chapel and Vatican Museums direct online not via a third party. The lunch was the worst meal I’ve ever had. Please don’t do this option as it was truly inedible. Grab a pizza at the other caffe, that’s not great and over priced but your some what limited as it takes hours to get round the museums. When eventually on the chapel, the queue out the museums to get there is huge, it’s stunning. There’s limited seating and you get squashed and ushered in and out quite quickly. The “secret” door to the basilica that tour guides use is now guarded so don’t even bother trying. I don’t know if u can visit the chapel without a museum ticket but that might be worth trying to get if you don’t want to see the Vatican museums. It’s definitely worth going to though and we enjoyed seeing such famous art works.

You literally have to wait until almost the end of the museum tour before being crammed into the room of the Sistine chapel with hundreds of people then learning you can’t take pictures. The room is soo overcrowded that the security cannot keep an eye on everyone so most manage to snap at least 1 picture. The art work is amazing to witness still.

We took the Vatican Museum tour and this was the final room. It was gorgeous!!! There is no talking and no photos and guards will watch you closely but you can spend all the time you want looking at the art.
