We just spent a packed four days with Marisa touring the sites of Ancient Rome as part of my Bucket List trip. She is remarkable and her experience as an historian and archaeologist totally shined through.

We completed a custom combination of her "Imperial Rome" tour, her walking tour of the Campus Martius, her "Underground Rome" tour, and her tour of the Capitoline Museums (where she pointed out the original retaining wall of the temple to Jupiter Optimus Maximum and the remnants of the Tabularium).

By using diagrams on her iPad and in her notebook, we were able to see the Forum, Palatine Hill and so many other sites come alive. She didn't overwhelm us with information, but instead homed in on what we really needed and wanted to know. For example, we spent an afternoon with her at the Vatican Museums. Knowing my interest in Ancient Rome. she pointed out dozens of artifacts discovered inside the Domus Aurea (Nero's Golden Palace buried in the hill side near the Colosseum) and showed us original, famous busts and statues from Ancient Rome that one sees depicted in all the history books.

I spent a couple of months communicating by email with her to plan this trip and she always provided timely, detailed, and helpful responses. She purchased all the necessary tickets for us in advance which was so helpful given the literal bludgeoning one receives when trying to search for tickets on the Internet. She managed my expectations on what would actually be available given the quirkiness of some of the sites, and we were lucky enough to score tickets to the Domus Aurea and the night tour at the Colosseum. She even did some last-minute negotiations with the staff at the site to get us into the House of Augustus on the Palatine Hill, a powerful experience because it is a place I have always wanted to visit.

She is personable and patient, even when I kept stopping to photograph every sign and climb every staircase to get a better view :) We are so lucky to have found her when searching the Internet for private guides and I couldn't imagine having a better guide for this absolutely incredible experience. Thank you, Marisa!

This is the 2nd time we have had Marisa as a guide (the first time was pre-Covid). My daughter and I had the pleasure of Marisa guiding us through the Colosseum and then Vatican (2 separate days). She is knowledgeable, articular, and passionate about her work. It helps that she is an archeologist and also works for the Vatican giving tours. I cant imagine going through both sites without a guide. We feel very lucky to have her as our guide ad would be delighted to recommend her to our family and friends.

Marissa gave our group of 5 an excellent tour of the Vatican Museum and St. Mark's. She is very knowledgeable and a true professional. She was willing to accommodate our interests. When I go back to Rome I will definitely book another tour with her. Marissa was easy to communicate with and to make arrangements with. Because we were there just before Christmas she recommended which would be the best day and times to visit the Vatican to avoid the crowds. Had she been available both days we would have used her for our archeological tour as well.

We thoroughly enjoyed the two educational and highly enjoyable half-days with Marisa on the Ancient Rome/Basic Tour and Vatican/Sistine Chapel tours. Both provided us with practical information on the history and archeology of each site visited. Our tour experience was greatly enhanced by the renderings and maps that Marisa carried and displayed at the sites. These allowed us to visualize the original structures and geography as compared to present day. Marisa is an outstanding guide. She is extremely knowledgeable, organized, patient and very experienced in dealing with the Rome tour crowds. All email communications with her prior to our tours were timely, clear and efficient. And she even recommended a very pleasant hotel for our stay and a restaurant near the Vatican which became our favorite in Rome. At the end, we considered her a dear friend we know in Rome. Thanks, Marisa, for sharing your love for Rome to us!

We had the incredible opportunity to spend two unforgettable days exploring Rome and the Vatican with Marisa Ficorella. Marisa, a knowledgeable archaeologist and a passionate guide, brought the millennia-old history of Rome to life in ways we didn't expect.

Our journey began with an in-depth tour of the Colosseum, where her detailed storytelling and expert knowledge made the ancient amphitheater's history and architecture truly come alive. We then wandered through the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. In the Basilica of San Clemente, a hidden gem with multiple layers of history beneath its foundations, Marisa's enthusiasm made us get an understanding of the intricate ancient structures. As Vatican guide, we also had the privilege to discover the St. Peter's basilica and Vatican museums in a personal way learning about so many fascinating stories attached to the art, architecture and artifacts that we saw.

Overall it was a perfect blend of academic rigor and engaging storytelling. If you're planning a trip to Rome, I highly recommend booking a tour with Marisa Ficorella. It's an experience you won't want to miss!

Grazie mille, Marisa, for making our Roman adventure unforgettable!

I chanced upon Marisa's website while searching for a guide in Rome. Without giving much thought, we booked her for the colosseum/palatine hill/roman forum and vatican tours. Marisa, was a hit with our family. She's a true blue roman with heart for the culture, and her background as an archeologist helped shined the light on many of the burning questions we had.
needless to say, I would definitely recommend Marisa for any of her tours as she is a gem. 11/10

My wife and I had the opportunity to join Marisa for private tours of the Colosseum/Roman Forum and Vatican Museums/St. Peter's Basilica. She was really quite excellent, from fair pricing, to extremely clear and detailed communication prior to the days of the tours regarding meeting times/locations, to the actual quality of the tours themselves. She was extremely knowledgeable on basically everything we saw, and was able to communicate her passion for the area in a clear and friendly way. Highly recommend.
