We had a wonderful evening tour with Claudio this week. Cannot tell you the difference a guided tour is when you have someone as enthusiastic and passionate as him. We had a lovely group and really enjoyed the tour was extended by 45 minutes because he wanted to tell the stories. If anyone i know ever goes to Rome I will definitely recommend this tour. Especially Claudio he honestly was just the best

Skepticism - my dominant feeling as I entered this tour. It was expensive and 1 of many, many food tours in Rome. My logic, how good could the food be?

Anxiety - skepticisms partner, I'd bought this as a Christmas gift and really wanted it to be perfect.

I only mention these as I want you to understand that I was not entering this experience open minded or positively, yet it was undoubtedly the best night I've had in my 2 months traveling so far.

I booked a group tour (16 people) ticket for 2 people, which ended up as a private tour through dumb luck booking the night we did. Initially this added to my anxiety however, Andrea was a perfect tour guide. Much for the reason that he didn't feel like a tour guide. He was never awkward or unsure, he let us enjoy our meal in a complimentary combination of privacy and insightful information.
Andrea exudes a love for his city and tonight we were fortunate enough to join in his company as he explored architectural secrets hidden in restaurants and fascinating histories of Rome with you. He is unrivaled at connecting with his respective audience and kept us constantly amused. He also gave us great tips for cities all over Italy.
I really just felt like we were friends and he was showing us his most loved restaurants in the city and telling us everything he could about it in the process.

As for the food, it was delicious, I am not a "foodie" but it was really very good and in copious amounts. They were not even slightly stingy in their servings (another skeptical factor in the beginning) and you could not possibly leave still hungry!
My girlfriend is a foodie and she is still raving about it so there is something for everyone I believe.

Genuine happiness - my only feeling when I left this culinary creation.

As they say, when in Rome... and for tonight at least, I felt like a Roman!

This tour is a must do when in Rome. The food is simply amazing, all kinds of different dishes and wines.
Our tour guide, Marta was exceptional, great knowledge of Rome and the local history. As other reviewers have said come on an empty stomach, since there is lots of great food.

The only bad thing was that the 4 hours went much to quickly and we didn't want it to end!

One suggestion is that it would be great if at the end of the evening a menu was distributed, with the names of the dishes that were tried at each stop.

Excellent Tour!

Whilst i dislike giving poor reviews, this one made into "average" but only because Bruno was a great tour guide and the information and history he provided about Rome was second to none. It was an entertaining walk through Rome, he was funny and humorous and whilst advertised for 3 hours, it went on for 4.5 hours.
However, it is advertised as a "Food Tour" and to be honest the choice of food was poor. I had emailed Bruno twice before the tour and advised him that my wife didnt eat red meat and to bear this in mind so that we were not limited food wise. The first place we stopped, we had a vegetable fried dish which was a very small snack (about the size of a fish finger). It was nice but it was about an hour into the tour. Then we went for some pizza and literally had 2 slices of a small pizza (cheese and tomato) which was about another 45 minutes into the tour. Onto a ham and salami butcher where natually we didnt eat anything. To be fair i had some tukey slices which was good of him but my parter didnt eat anything. This wasnt really an issue, but it would have been nice to have added in something for her. But again, this wasnt really the main issue.
We finally made it onto the main restaurant, which was really nice place. Starters were 2 soup dishes (fine) and then 4 or 5 pasta dishes; 2 of which were vegetarian. The first one was Raveoli (8 people, 8 pieces) and at 85 Euros, you would expect a little more. The second dish was some plain pasta with tomato sauce.. it was okay. The other dishes were all red meat which limited my partner to one piece of Raveli and a couple of spoonfuls of pasta.
The tour finished with a coffee and very nice ice cream at a different location in Rome.

I think that the price of the tour is steep at 85 Euros especially when there were 2 of us and at 170 Euros, we could have had lots of food in so many different places in Rome! I understand you pay for Bruno's time of which he gives you plenty, but it is advertised as a food tour and needs to accomodate those people who are not avid meat eaters.

I would have loved to have given this tour 5 starts as once agan - Bruno really is a very nice bloke who is thoroughly entertaining, but we had been excited about a food tour with lots of different food etc and this did disappoint in that area. At 85 Euros (which is 20 Euros more expensive than the rivals who offer these tour) i would expect total satisfaction at the selection of foods provided especially when you've been notified about it earlier.
For meat eaters this tour would be great, but you are a vegetarian or do not eat red meat, i would give it a miss.

Dear sir, before you and your partenr joined my tour I had many other vegetarians on the same tour. At the restaurant I asked you many times what else you and your wife wanted to eat and you replied to me we were full!!!! I was repeating to you to eat something else as my granma used to tell me repeatedly "mangia" "mangia" but you and your wife said no thank you! there was a menu with plenty of vegetarian choices. I did not want to skip the meat stop in order to let the other people enjoy that. But there was much more coming up! As you clearly stated in your review my tour took 4.5 hours. Customers' satisfaction is my first concern and on tour we give much more food (of excellent quality) than other competitors. I am getting a bit tired of answering back to customers that on tour they say it is great, they love it and then after they go home they write they are disappointed. Where is the fairness???? It is the second time that that happens and I think you do it on purpose to get your money back . Many people are using Trip Advisor reviews as a way to travel for free and get refunded after they write a bad review. I put al lot of efforts, energy and money to provide excellent quality tours. i constantly ask you for feedback on tour to provide what you want and as much as you want. I do no think your behaviour shows fairness and respect to my job. The hundreds of people that came on my tours know that what you say in your review cannot happen because I am always there to fulfill your expectations. Your review will make us lose ranking and customers on Tripadvisor...but I am serene because I did everything poassible to make you happy and to make you enjoy a ful Roman experience!

Firstly, let me say that our guide Bruno really was very nice and couldn't have tried harder to make sure everyone enjoyed the tour ... but there were issues.

1. Despite lots of people saying no one goes home hungry, I did. Having done previous food tours, this time i felt like the food was restricted. 2 tiny pieces of pizza in one stop, or a mouthful of soup, a piece of courgette and a forkful of pasta in another - not enough - I know others felt hungry too because i asked them them - it was a little awkward!

2. 16 people in the group is too many - 12 as a a maximum would be much better

3. We had spent all day studying the history of Rome and that was enjoyable i wanted to relax in the evening and not have to think too much. Don't get me wrong a little bit of history would be interesting but in this case, i would say nearly 2x as much time was spent on the history than on the food - not as advertised.

4. We booked a tour that clearly stated 6-10 yet didn't finish till 11 - 5 hours! By the end, it seemed to me that most people on the tour were bored and weren't listening anymore - 3 hours would have been perfect.

The tour had a good start but lost its way - I would have much preferred a shorter tour, less history and a lot more food! I do feel guilty for having to write this review because i could tell they really did try to make the tour really good for everyone but in my opinion there were quite big mistakes.

I booked this tour prior to arriving in Rome. It turned out to be the highlight of our Rome visit. We visited and ate our way through the Jewish Quarter and the Campo de Fiori area of Rome.
We met at Osteria Osteria Pane Vino e San Daniele located near the Turtle Fountain at Piazza Mattei. We sampled a red and white wine with an imposing array of antipasto. Leaving the Osteria we walked into the heart of the Jewish Quarter stopping at Ristorante ll Portico to sample some traditional fried artichokes. As we walked through the old Jewish Quarter Marta pointed out brass markers embedded in the cobblestone street commemorating victims of the Holocaust that had lived in that building. Each plaque is detailed with the victim’s first and last name, date of birth, date and place of deportation, and date of death in a Nazi extermination camp.

Our next stop was at Antico Forno Roscioli to sample some of the famous Roman pizza. Did I say some? They brought out large slices with four different toppings times two, and they were all delicious. By this time I was ready for coffee and dessert, but we have not even sat down for our main course yet!

We walked over to Campo de Fiori to Ristorante Da Pancrazio. It is built over the Theater of Pompey's ruins ruins, the well known 1st Century B.C. theater where Julius Caesar was murdered. You dine on traditional Roman cuisine here. We were serve two different thick soups: chick peas with pasta; and green peas, artichokes, and fava beans stewed Roman style with bruschetta. This was followed by saltimbocca and a fish dish. We were led down to the ancient vaulted cellar dating back to the time of Julius Caesar before heading out for more food. I guess we can't skip dessert.

We stopped in front of the window of Zum Roma Tiramiso located near Campo de Fiori. Did we have room for more food? Of course! It was hard to make a decision here as they had so many tempting flavors. They serve up serve up both conventional and fantastically unique tiramiso, and delicious. It was onto Sant'Eustachio Il Caffè for a coffee. I just ordered a double espresso and it was creamiest and best I have ever had. This was coffee as it should be. Marta was taking the group back toward the Jewish Quarter for a nightcap but we opted to say our goodbyes to a very nice collection of people as we were not too far from our accommodations. What an evening to remember.

One member of our group had done this tour before with our guide Marta and purposely booked it again bringing another couple to enjoy this experience. I can see why as she was a terrific guide.

We toured with Marta and she was VERY well prepared with both local history factoids and food and wine origins. It certainly helps that she used to be a chef! The food we tasted was different at each stop and was not considered to be "eclectic" or too "out there" as far as what we were trying. Very basic but tasty selections!! You have to do a food tour if you're in Rome for a few days! Expect to pay around 80 euros per person for the tour.

Amazing day strolling and eating for four hours in the non-touristy traditional neighborhood of Testaccio. We were met by our guide Gigi, who was originally from New York City and fell in love with Rome on a vacation and never returned. Her knowledge of roman cuisine was superlative and her personality vibrant and gregarious, while the proprietors of each shop and restaurant and markets were thrilled to see her. We were in excellent hands. Every food stop was an establishment that was where the locals shop and eat, each being in business for at least four generations and the best of their kind. There was never and I mean NEVER any sales pitches or any pressure to purchase anything. We were fed everywhere we went, met the chefs, ate with the locals and walked away sated and ten pounds heavier. Truly a highlight on our Roman holiday!

I booked this late and only a private tour was available. My wife is gluten free and really wanted to do this, so.... It turned out to be the surprise hit of our trip to Rome. Julia was our young and enthusiastic guide for 7 restaurants over 5 hours. There was little time wasted walking, as all of the restaurants were reasonably close. As a native of Rome, Giulia added lots of flavor (pun intended!) about where we were and things to look for. At the same time, she was careful to give us our space and let us linger. We really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and Julia's company. I would highly recommend this for gluten free tourists in Rome. Not cheap, but enjoyable.

Just a note, I am not gluten free and was given a choice for my tastings!
