We spent the evening with our chef Francesco and his sous-chef Nicolette and the entire experience was breathtaking. We were in a beautiful house in an old Italian town with an amazing view. There was a quick lesson for how to make pasta and we made part of our meal, then sat down to have what i can only describe... More

I have had the pleasure of experiencing cooking classes with Fabiolous Cooking Day twice now. The first was in September 2013. We were picked up in Rome by Chef Monica and transported out into the country to a quiet medieval village. After shopping we went to Drago, a cosy house and spent a wonderful day making pasta, and three different... More

This was a fantastic day with a great group of fun people. Francesco was brilliant! It was helpful to write the recipes as I went and I've tried them since returning to Australia. Yum!! Fresh produce from the local village and some great cooking tips. The location is absolutely stunning! it felt like a movie set but it was real!... More

A WONDERFUL DAY of cooking and dining in the Roman countryside. It was fabulous. Even "Fabio"lous... Got picked up at our hotel 7:45am and shuttled to the tour company, then picked up by sous chef Marco 8:15a and driven to Mazzano Romano, a lovely village about 50 minutes north of central Rome. I recently experienced the private cooking class in Mazzano Romano with my husband and four friends. Our chef, Francesco, arrived on time to pick us up and was a great host. He was friendly, funny, and patient with us. We drove to the quaint medieval town of Mazzano Romano, stopped to pick up our ingredients, and proceeded to prepare a... More

I attended the cooking class with Chef Monica on Thursday in Rome. Although I was looking forward to it, the entire experience exceeded my expectations. The quality of the food and the kitchen environment was second to none. Monica ensured the group had fun and everyone got involved. My husband and I were interested in trying a cooking class in Rome for our European honeymoon, as we like to cook together. This class did not disappoint! We were taken to the beautiful, small town of Mezzano Romano by our amazing chef, Francesco, and four other guests. As a group, we visited local markets to purchase our ingredients before... More

At the last minute yesterday we decided to take this cooking class and were lucky enough to get in. It was amazing from the minute we walked with the open market, to the cheese and meat shop to the butcher to buy the things needed to make the meal. We traveled back to the loft and dug into prep and... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
