The area
Address
Neighborhood: Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the center, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighboring Borgo, Prati is a local favorite for its aesthetic organization and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.
How to get there
  • Lepanto • 6 min walk
  • Ottaviano - San Pietro - Musei Vaticani • 10 min walk

At the last minute my adult daughter and I decided to book 90 minute massages at a spa. We chose El Spa; Via Plinio 15C, and what a relaxing treat. The atmosphere was quite calming. I also appreciated that they had comfortable, plus-size robes.

My therapist was Kamani, a 35 year expert. She was knowledgeable, friendly and made me feel comfortable immediately. She washed my feet in Himalayan salt and flowers before I laid on massage table. Her voice was soft and mannerism calming — a true professional.

I will always make this a treat for myself when visiting Rome.

I highly recommend this spa. Just send a message via the website about your needs and someone will confirm.

Dearest, thanks for the beautiful words and for the time you've dedicated to the review. We're sorry that you had not had more time to enjoy all our treatments. We look forward to seeing you the next time you return to Rome, with the promise of welcoming you with the same love and the same empathy. Making our guests feel at ease and free is our job, our mission. Knowing that we have done a good job is a joy. And Kamani... is a rare woman and it is impossible to find non-banal words to thank her every day for working with us.

My friend and I visited El Spa on a rainy Friday evening (15th November 2019) a couple of weeks ago. What an oasis of calm and relaxation this place is. We actually arrived half an hour early but we were told that we could immediately go into the relaxation area which we did. The lady who greeted us was so friendly - indeed all the staff we came across were just lovely. The Spa is very deceptive. Quite small as you come in but as you go inside it is a warren of warm, cozy rooms. We had the 2 hour Hamman - a first for us both. This began with a visit to the Calidarium, a steam room. Our respective therapists then administered a total body scrub which was followed by a savonage which is a wash with beautiful soft soap. We were rinsed with warm water then a dousing with cold water which was exhilerating. The whole experience was just beautiful - so nurturing and relaxing. This was followed by an hour massage. My therapist was Marco for both the Calidarium and the massage and I have to say the massage was the best one I have ever had. Marco was so professional and really worked on my upper back which definitely needed some TLC after the travelling etc! We completed our treatments with another visit to the relaxation room where we chatted and relaxed and - reluctantly - left 2.5 hours later!. This Spa is a complete gem of a place on the Via Plinio and I would heartily recommend a visit to anyone who is visiting Rome. The staff were so friendly and helpful and there was a lovely atmosphere in the Spa. I certainly will be going back on my next visit to Rome.

If you need to switch off from the Roman chaos, don't walk- RUN to El Spa! It's a real dream, where you will be looked after like a king or queen, pampered by the most wonderful team in a tranquil setting. The masseuse I had was incredibly talented and intuitive- the perfect combination. Then I had a relaxation session in the pools and I am still dreaming of it now.
Every single member of staff was delightful and attentive.
Go now- you won't regret it.

My wife and I were on our honeymoon in Italy. We spent 2 weeks traveling and averaging about 20,000 steps a day walking around and traveling from city to city. Our honeymoon ended with my wife's birthday. I was able to inform Patrizia that we were there for a birthday/honeymoon special and she and I joined forces to surprise my wife with some really special touches. We spent about 4 hours being pampered and scrubbed and massaged and just in absolute bliss. Everyone in the staff was kind, warm and welcoming. It was truly an experience to remember and I cannot wait return to Rome to relive it all! I wish I could remember the names of everyone who helped us but they were all so amazing and I love them all lol. Til next time El Spa!

Dear Jordan and Janice, you have been a blessing to us. We are lucky to meet every day wonderful people coming from all over the world, then there are special people like you: full of love, joy for life and extraordinarily kind. We are delighted to have been part of your honeymoon and to have become a gift to Janine. We hope to see you again soon so we can share some other life steps with you. Thank you!

El Spa, great place for a relaxing retreat in Rome. You want from a massage following things, clean facilities, professional staff and feel better when leaving the place. El Spa got all the those things right, we did a couples massage and a warm/cold bath. You don't need anything with you. They provide tea, fresh fruits, towels and robes. Price probably a bit over average but high quality and friendlyness justify the price.

I enjoyed an excellent massage in this relaxing spa in Rome's Prati district. Check in is on ground level and the treatment rooms are a flight of stairs down. After checking in, I was ushered into a small dressing room to change. The lounge downstairs offers water and tea.

The massage was very good and helped me feel much better, after being sore from walking around as a tourist. Different fragrant oils are used that add aromatherapy to the experience.

Spa etiquette is a bit different in Italy than in the US. Since this was my first trip to an Italian spa, I wanted to share this info so Americans know what to expect.

In the US, you can undress to your comfort level. In Italy, you must fully undress and wear disposable paper underwear provided by the spa. This is very hygienic and convenient. The therapists will keep you covered with a towel during the massage, but they do not leave the room when you disrobe and get on the table. I sort of expected this, so was not too surprised. My therapist at first motioned to a tub in the room and I thought he wanted me to take a bath! He only wanted me to sit on the ledge of the tub to have my feet washed and scrubbed with sea salts. It was a very nice intro to the massage, but confused me at first. After the massage, I was offered a delicious bowl of fruit salad in the lounge. Pretty much everything else was typical of massages in the US.

This is a very nice spa with talented therapists. Recommend!

Dearest Maria Gloria, Thank you very much for your detailed reviews. But we want thank you also for you little guide for Americans. This comparison between the different etiquettes in Italy and in the USA is very interesting and for us it is precious to know if we can change something so that all our guests can feel comfortable. We hope to see you soon!

My husband booked the hammam, body scrub and massage as a treat . What a wonderful experience, like retreating into a another world. Quiet, relaxing and serene. Marco was professional and discreet. Would definitely recommend 👍

Although there was a misunderstanding with the reservation, they happily served me. The facilities were very nice and clean and the staff very kind and helpful. Had the El's pools (very relaxing and out of this world), the hammam session with Vasiliki (who made it a really amazing experience for me) and a 30' massage with Allessandra (who made me regret only having a 30' session and not a 60'!). I would definitely recommend that you book a 60' massage so that you have a full body massage and experience relaxation at a higher level! Will come back next time I 'll be in Rome!
