The Romans liked their victory Columns, didn’t they? A beautiful column built in the style of the more famous Trajan’s Column. Its not far from the Pantheon so is nothing out to take a walk and see. The level of detail and craftsmanship to design...More

This Doric column, sitting in the center of Piazza Colonna, was erected in 185 AD, and stands about 100 feet tall. The outside is done in relief carvings that tell of Marcus Aurelius campaigns.

Colonna di Marco Aurelio is located on Piazza Colonna to commemorate the historical events of Marcus Aurelius. Most of the details had been carved onto the column and are still clearly readable currently. Quite an impressive sight and recommended to others.

This column was constructed and erected to the memory of Marcus Aurelius in 193AD. There is a spiral of inscriptions on the column which detail his victories in various battles. Marcus sat atop the column overseeing his surroundings for many centuries, then was somehow lost....More

The Colonna di Marco Aurelio celebrates the Roman leader Marcus Aurelius. It is located on the Piazza Colonna. We visited as part of a walking tour so we heard more about its construction and the stories behind some of the inscriptions many depicting roman victories.

A fantastic column depicting the war victories of Marcus Aurelius. Hard to see it all as it’s so tall, but fantastic workmanship.

Amazing that this column is still here for us to see. Easy to find - right in the heart of the historical sites. Take some time to look at the details - you will be awed.

Walked past this huge column on the way back from the Colosseum, the spiral motive on the column is spellbinding, very fascinating. There is a bit of a buzz around this column, but in a nice way. In February, it wasn't overrun by other tourist...More

One of only two marble relief columns in Rome, it's a remarkable feat of architecture. Consisting of 27/28 blocks of marble with 200 steps on the inside and reliefs on the outside celebrating Emperor Marcus Aurelius' victory of the Marcomannic Wars, it is a respectable...More
