The tour of the ancient city and the Coliseum was excellent. We had one of the best tour guides. She was previously an archeologist so I felt like she had some real in-depth knowledge. She had a bright and charming personality. Her English was easy to understand. I had high hopes for Nero’s Palace tour. The virtual tour was very cool but short. Most of the palace is still being reconstructed so it was really hard to envision what it would have looked like. Not a lot of frescos to view. Mostly underground so take a jacket with you...it’s chilly. Might be great for a structural engineer with an imagination. The virtual portion was the only worthwhile part of the Nero tour.

Enjoyed the close up look inside and outside of the Colosseum. The forum and Palatine hill was also enjoyable. Francesca was very knowledgable and friendly. Just 4 of us in the tour that early morning so we got lots of attention and probably more detailed info than we might have otherwise. Considering the actual entry ticket price, the cost of the personalized tour was pretty high, but we do not regret the experience.

I knew that I wanted to see the Colosseum and Roman Forum, but wasn’t sure if I should go on my own or with a guide. Usually I’m a big fan of finding my own path, so whenever I do book a guided tour, the guide should really add value. And wow, I’m sooo happy I went with Roma Experience. After my tour I’m now convinced this is THE BEST way to see the Colosseum and Roman Forum. - The best parts of the Colosseum can only be accessed with a guide (arena floor, catacombs, upper rings). And those are really the best parts! - You get to skip the line (which was loooong, even in February!) - It’s not so busy in the restricted areas (which you can only see with a guide) so you’ll be able to make pictures without other tourists being in your photo - You get lots of inside information - Besides the Colosseum, you’ll visit the Roman Forum (excavations of the old city centre). Our guide Vincenzo really made history come alive here. Otherwise we might’ve seen these excavations as just a bunch of stones (really pretty and really old stones, but still just stones if you don’t know the background story) - Our group was just 6 people, which was awesome (note that inside the Colosseum, you’ll be with a slightly bigger group though). - I’m a big history geek but my boyfriend is not at all. But we were both equally happy with the tour and my boyfriend commented afterwards that even without him having any pre-existing knowledge of Roman history, he was able to get a clear understanding of everything that happened here because Vincenzo explained it so well Highly recommended!

We were told this would be a group of no more than 10 and it turned out to be 8. Santi was an excellent host and managed to keep us enthralled throughout the whole tour, very well paced. His knowledge was excellent and the small group meant he gave everyone attention - well recommended
