Context provides an in-depth alternative to traditional tours. Context's Rome walking seminars are an alternative to typical guided tours. With over 50 different walks led by Ph.D. or MA-level scholars, and with the smallest group size available—only six people. Context is much more than a walking tour of Rome.

Marvelous introduction to the building of Rome as a city. We began at the Arca Pracis which records the foundation of the city. Our guide Simone was charming and empathic. She knows so much. And took us through the Rome she loves. She linked the reason for buildings and their design to political power. Brilliant! Highly recommended. And fun!

I had a wonderful experience on my context tour. Paolo Carlini, our tour guide, was hospitable, warm, knowledgeable and he spoke eloquently. He was also attentive to the interests of the group and his passion for the subject came through. While 15 minutes was sufficient, I personally would have liked to have spent just a little longer inside the Sistine... More

Context provides extraordinary, small tours in various cities. We recently visited Rome and because there were six of us in total, we were able to book the entire tour. We took three tours: Ancient Rome (the Colosseum and Forum), Underground Rome (focusing on ancient and the middle ages) and the Vatican Art collection. All three were exceptional. The guides in... This was an exceptional experience for my husband and I and our 18 year old son. Worth every penny, Our docent was an archeologist who could provide a well-informed and nuanced perspective to the complex history of the Vatican,.

My husband and I recently had the most exceptional tour of the Vatican museums and Basilica. Our docent, Alessandra Poli was amazing and created a private tour that provided exactly what we had hoped for. This was my fourth tour of the Vatican museums and Alessandra provided a unique and different experience, making the tour most informative and special. Our... More

Our family of five had the most wonderful experience on the Vatican and St. Peter's tour with our guide, Alessandra Poli. The Vatican Museums are huge and crowded, and Alessandra guided us to a deeper understanding of the collections and how they were key to inspiring art through the ages. She connected art history for me in a new way.... More

My wife and I took a Context tour of the Vatican Museums and St Peter's Basilica led Pier Paolo. Not cheap but well worth it. There were only six of us and being on this small tour enabled us to skip all the lines -- huge even in December -- and have the full attention of our guide. But most... More

Our family group of 8- 3 adults, 5 teens/young adults started our Rome trip with two Context tours. First up was the Vatican Tour with Agnes. Fantastic-we loved the information and Agnes' knowledge and sense of humor. Best compliment to Agnes is our kids continuing to point out objects (i.e. the Pope's seal) and info with the line- "Agnes told... More

There are many tours of the Vatican/Art/Sistine Chapel, and straight after a 30 hour flight from Australia , I wondered if I we would be able to maintain interest due to fatigue. This tour was a small tour (a group of 3) and thanks to our docent , Cecilia Martini, we enjoyed the most wonderful informative tour of the Vatican... More

We spent a wonderful afternoon with Dimo seeing and learning about the history and archaeology and politics of Rome from before the Roman empire to modern times. Dimo was informative and engaging and helped us appreciate what we saw in a comprehensive way. Really good.
