The area
Neighborhood: Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.

How many times have we crossed it!
Piazza Trilussa, located between the Lungotevere della Farnesina and the Lungotevere Raffaello Sanzio, right in front of the Ponte Sisto, is dedicated to the great Roman poet Trilussa.
In a corner of the piazza is a little, lovely memorial with a plaque and inscription with one of his poems.
The square, formerly called "piazza di ponte Sisto", houses the beautiful fountain commissioned by pope Paolus V of the Borghese family to the architects Van Santen (known as "the Vasanzio") and Giovanni Fontana: it is the second fountain of the Acqua Paola (after the Paola Fountain ), or of the ancient Trajan aqueduct, following the extension of its canalization to supply water, in addition to the districts of Trastevere and Borgo, also those of Regola and Ponte.
Apart from that, it has to be said that
on the steps of the large fountain usually young Romans and tourists sit down to enjoy the warm spring days that Rome is famous for.
Lovely corner of the Trastevere district.

At the suggestion of a driver and the owner of our rental apartment in Rome, we spend an evening in the area.
The area is largely pedestrian streets with tons of little bistros and bars with excellent food and cheap prices. As the night went on, the street performers start working and we enjoyed a couple of impromptu shows. There are lots of little stalls selling jewellery and other handicrafts.
After an excellent dinner we wandered around with a drink in hand from the local convenience store.
I think we the only non-Romans on the streets and it was great fun. A true taste of the non-touristy Rome.
It is about 30 minute walk back to the other side of the Tiber river and central Rome.

We went across the Ponte Sisto bridge on a Friday night aiming for a stroll and dinner in Trastevere. We had heard this area was very buzzy, particularly on a Friday night at the end of the working week, and it certainly was, starting with Piazza Trilussa. Lots of predominantly young people sitting around chatting and listening to some excellent music. We heard two rock bands and a West African musician all of whom were excellent so definitely worth considering going across this side of the river if you're in town on a Friday.

The nightlife in Trastevere is famous already for its pub and bar but let me say piazza trilussa is amazing to listen a lot of ground music group from the 8 P.M. to 10 P.M. with a lot of young people around this square. I suggest you to listen music and after go to eat and drink in this area an amazing experience for a wonderful city 🔝👍😊

Saw and heard music one night, and came back couple of nights to check it out again.
Live music, so sad I do not know how to upload a video here, but definitely something worth visiting. A lot of generations you can see here, enjoying good music. And you can also bring your drinks ..

If you spend some time wandering the little streets of Trastevere -- which everyone should! -- you will eventually wind up here in this very popular piazza. The river is steps away, and several small windy streets flow from the piazza into Trastevere, with its wealth of places to eat and drink. There's a small memorial to the poet Trilussa here, off to one side. People sit on the steps of the fountain, street musicians perform, people talk, smoke, and drink a beer, and watch the world go by.

Located on the Trastevere side of Ponte Sisto, is this lovely square that has many side streets full of eateries and bear for the night owls. The steps leading down, from the fountain is a favourite place for (young) locals to hang out. After being on our feet for far to long this was a perfect place for a rest, (for the weary tourist).

Stopped here, before exploring Trastevere. A small square but filled with character and bordered by some lovely buildings. The small narrow roads that ran off the square invited one to explore further.
