We used this company to book two private tours while in Rome. Because of stellar reviews, we also requested Christiana and are so happy we did! The first tour was of the Vatican Museum/Sistine Chapel/St Peter's. Christiana made all of the art come to life. We literally were transported back in time as she gave us an in depth tour.... More

We began our tour, led by Tommaso (archaeologist by profession), at 8:45am. We were lucky to have absolute beautiful weather, and Tommaso told us that the morning light was the nicest for photos, as well as beating the crowds. He explained in great detail about the architecture of the Colosseum and the Emperors Palaces, as well as what life might... More

We had a great tour with Barbara. She provided excellent information without overwhelming us. Given our time there she prioritized things to see and amazingly got us through huge crowds with ease. Outstanding in every way.

Luca was the most informative and jovial guide! He made our trip perfect! We toured three different walking tours with him and they were worth every dime. I would not recommend seeing Rome in such a short period without a guide. There is so much to see and having Luca helped us achieve all we wanted to see and learn... More

Our guide Massimiliano escorted the two of us on a one day tour of the highlights of Rome. His knowledge of Roman history and the sites we visited was superb, as history buffs we appreciated this. Nothing was too much trouble and his attention to detail was excellent, even recommending a very good cafe for lunch. Excellent overall organization, communication... More

My husband and I took a 3 hour private tour of the Coloseum, Palintine Hill, Circus Maximus and Roman Forum. We used Eyes of Rome and our guide was Elisa. It was the best three hour tour we have ever taken Elisa was informative and very knowledgeable and very personable. We would request her again.

We were picked up from the cruise ship (the port is around 60km from the city of Rome) and taken into the city to meet our guide (Barbara). She took us through the Colesseum, Roman Forum, then on to Trevi Fountain, and finally to Vatican Museum (Sistine Chapel and St Peters). Though the day she made sure that we were... More

I suggested to my wife that we booked a private tour for visiting the Vatican one day and Colosseum another. We are a family of four, our daughter is 17 and our son 12. Initially the thought was to stop the children bickering and make it more enjoyable for us all. It turned out far better than we could have... More

Our guide Luca met us outside the Colosseum and whisked us past the lineup! The tour lasted 3 hours taking us the Colosseum, the Palatine Hill/palace, the forum and ending in front of the monument to Victor Emmanuel II. Luca added so much to our tour, allowing us to see what wasn't there...there is no way we could have done... More

We took three tours with Private Tours of Rome. The Colosseum, Rome Underground, and of course the Vatican. We where a group of eight and we are all very well traveled with many years of visiting Europe, Rome and other parts of the world. Without hesitation this tour company has been the best experience any of the group has had.... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
