We took the Pompei and Naples tour with this company. When we arrived at the offices (I don't know how people were picked up from their hotel because they did not communicate at all after booking so couldn't organise), there were 3 staff standing on the street corner and no one in the office checked our tickets, they just took... After being approached by so many tour operators trying to sell us bus tours we gave up and just went with GLT as they all sounded the same. What an error! After being taken to the office from the Termini we were shown the bus stop. So far good service. That's where it ended. The bus drivers/assistants who took tickets... More

Stepped off train in Rome to find an "information greeter" on the platform, who steered us to Green Line bus tour. I am an idiot. What a scam, almost nonexistent narration, half-hour stops at various street-corners to take on zero people, complete waste of money and more important, TIME. Wife ended up just yelling at the driver and other hucksters... More

We got picked up at our hotel and then kept going around to other hotels picking up people. Thought we were on our way to Vatican but then came to main office and switched busses only to wait at least another 30 minutes for people. Definitely wasted at least 2 hours! Our tour of Vatican and Sistine chapel was ok.... More

Of the approximately 2 hours panoramic circuit, we must have spent at least one third of this time waiting at stops, where presumably they were coaxing other tourists onto the bus. Many of the other brand tours seemed to be spending a lot less time at each stop, evidenced by the fact that they would arrive after us but leave... More

We accidentally double double booked two consecutive tours to the roman forum and colosseum. Needless to say the Greenline tour was the not so good one. We were shipped to a full bus of people. The bus drove around the city where a man talked in 4 different languages. It got to be very boring. We then stopped by St.... More

the tour gives a good overview of Rome, taped commentary in various languages, try for the double decker bus with a roof in case of rain

We were told there would be no more than 25 people on our tour to Pompeii, but we ended up on a packed bus with over 50 people. I could not even sit next to my husband because it was so crowded. The tour guide seemed annoyed and very rushed. English was not her native language and her accent was... More

We did the Green Line open top bus tour in Rome today & would not recommend it. The bus waited longer at stops than the other operators. We waited 25 minutes at Termini station - when I showed the driver the timetable that clearly said buses every 10 minutes, all of a sudden he said he couldn't speak English (even... More

We had to meet at the bus first thing in the morning. The tour guide spoke in both English and Spanish which was confusing. Stopping at the cameo factory included a simple demonstration and then a push to shop with a 20% off discount which took more time out of the day. We got to Pompeii for lunch which was... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
