My wife and I went on the GLT Vatican City tour. The Guide didn't seem to know where her people were and was generally inattentive. The tour seemed rushed. You might be better off touring your self if you know what you want to see.

Low cost double decker hops on, hop off bus. Sellers on the modified Segway’s that promised that the upper deck would be covered sold us the tour. The bus schedule irregular and run only every 40 minutes. After waiting for 45 minutes, and seeing several of most of the competition go by, an open bus arrived. There was a basic... More

Over crowded buses, headphone connection for the audio tour was not working in several seats, definitely not a bus every 10 minutes as advertised. Street sellers will push this operator As I assume they make a higher commission.. Book one of the others.

During our honeymoon stay in Rome we decided to use Green Line tours because they worked directly with our hotel and the line advertised picking us up directly at the hotel instead of us rushing around to find a mutual meeting place for the tour. Our first tour was an afternoon one of the Vatican museums. My husband and I... More

Our day started @ 7:30, we were introduced to our tour guide (if you could call her that) Samantha who walked us to the bus, the driver had not shown up so we were told to walk away and get a coffee, eventually at about 8am he showed up and we got on the road.... the rest stops were in... More

You have to check your ticket for the bus yourself as the guide clearly isnt't doing it! Hopped on the right bus as was said by the manager, but on the way I noticed that they were talking about another tour. The guide clearly didn't check the ticket herself! Got up early for nothing. Luckely got my money back but... More

Very poor is the best I can do. Lots of time wasted that could have been spent at Pompeii, which is what we paid to see. Bus left 15 minutes late. Our "English" tour turned out to be the English, Japanese and Spanish tour. Stops for breaks were in out of the way stops not on the highway wasting time.... More

I would never recommend this company. They advertise pick ups every 10 minutes. We waited over 45 mins and ended up giving up and catching a taxi. The street seller convinced us they were the better operator as they were a local company. Once they got your money thats when the customer service stopped. Reviews on their website are poor... Booked the day tour from Rome to Naples and Pompeii, and was pleased. It is a long day (about 13 hours), but you get to see a lot of Italy on the bus down. The stay in Naples was brief- didn't have much of a chance to do anything but take pictures. Lunch in Pompeii was good- at a pre-set... More

I purchased a 24 hour Hop On/Hop Off tour. I would not recommend it. Very crowded, not enough seats for the amount of tickets they sell. It is a small, circular route and is VERY slow as at each stop they issue tickets on board. Not worth the money.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
