Because our visit to the Vatican is pretty much once in a lifetime, we decided to take the Livitaly “Private Vatican Tour with Early Entrance”. We also paid for VIP access to an additional space not generally open to the public. First, the logistics for meeting up with the guide early in the morning worked just fine. After a short wait at the front of priority line, we were in before general public access. This turned out to be very, very useful. Our guide, Davide, took us directly to the museum portion including the famous Gallery of maps. Bottom line is - we were able to get an AWESOME picture, taken by Davide, in the virtually empty Gallery of maps as well as several other spaces. When we arrived at the Sistine Chapel, it too was pretty mellow. We passed back through these areas on our way to the Basilica and they were quite crowded. There was also a point where our guide said something to the guard who then opened the rope so we could pass into an off-limits area. There were a ton of people looking at this area from behind the rope, so walking in there by ourselves was pretty striking. So this was pretty special. Davide was an outstanding guide. English was near-perfect and historical knowledge very good and interesting. There was literally nothing disappointing about this tour. The cost was of course more expensive compared to group tours. But we go so much more than the giant group tour. For my wife and I, it was well worth the price. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

We do so appreciate your very detailed and enthusiastic review of your private Vatican and Sistine Chapel tour with Davide. It sounds like you enjoyed 2 of the best possible opportunities: the early morning access which allows you to really see and appreciate the masterpieces up close and intimate AND to have Davide as your guide. He is super and we'll make sure to let him know about your fine review. Again, many thanks Angelo and Kristin

I booked a tour for me and my wife for the Highlights of the Vatican & Sistine Chapel Tour | Semi-Private via LIVtours on Tuesday, June 7, and it was an excellent tour.

The tour guide was an expert on the Vatican and Catholic Church history; she did a terrfiic job at pointing out and describing everything, and making the history come alive.

The Vatican museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's were all VERY crowded, but doing this small tour ensured I could hear our tour guide and we were able to get in and out of some rooms quickly. I don't believe I would have enjoyed a tour with 20+ people as much or learned as much as I did.

The 3 hour tour turned into a 3.5 hour tour so be flexible on your timing. This was just fine but I would highly recommend that you and your family eat breakfast before the tour as you do a lot of walking and moving. The tour started at 10AM, we arrived at the meeting point about 9:30AM, and the tour promptly started at 10AM.

If you are female or someine in your family is, be sure to wear something that covers the shoulders and knees, as the Vatican will NOT let you in if they aren't covered or make your purchase a cover.

We only had 4 days in Rome, so decided to schedule with LivItaly Tours to streamline our visit and reduce our frustration. We selected private tours, which do cost more, however I have an uncooperative knee, which causes some balance issues so the private tour allowed me to set the walking pace and therefore was worth every penny.
We booked the Private Two Full Days Rome Tour with optional chauffeur service: Gio was our guide for both days and she was enthusiastic, warm, considerate, and very knowledgeable about the tour subjects, preservation efforts, art history, area restaurants and best shopping places. Being with Gio was like touring Rome with a dear friend. Also, Gio infuses energy into the subject matter and draws parallels between ancient times and today. This technique helps to bridge the thousands of years age gap.
In addition, I highly recommend the optional chauffeur service if you have any mobility issues at all. Stephan was an excellent driver, always prompt, drove us as close to the tour locations as possible to minimize walking, stayed near-by all day in case we needed him, kept us supplied with water, and watched over our coats and shopping bags. A very gracious gentleman.

Grazie Davide for the excellent tour we took in early August and apologies for the delayed review. We had a great tour with Davide around the Colosseum and then the Vatican over two days in early August. He was extremely knowledgeable and informative and kept us fully entertained throughout. We could not have had a better guide.

My only complaint would be with the company advertising (and charging a premium price) for an underground colosseum tour when this isn’t even open to the public..

However this is no fault of our excellent guide who we would 100% recommend

Thank you very much for your review of the Colosseum and Ancient Rome tour you took with Davide. We love hearing that you enjoyed the tour and had such a great time with David. He is a super guide and a fantastic person! We do apologize, once again, that you were not able to visit the underground portion of the Colosseum. As Davide explained to you (and as our disclaimer states on our website), due to Covid-19 many museums and archeological sites occasionally close down sections and even the entire site without any advance notice. Covid has caused problems for everyone but this very erratic and unreliable modus operandi has put many tour companies out of business for both financial loss as well as loss of clients. Although this is a situation completely out of our hands, we do want you to know that we share in your disappointment and can only hope that when the present crisis passes, we will be able to continue to fully guarantee everything that we promise towards making your experience a very special one. Again, thank you for taking the time to write and for your lovely praise of our guide, Davide. Angelo and Kristin

When we planned for 2 days in Rome on our 2 week European vacation, my family said it was not enough time. So I booked a 2-day private tour of Rome through LivItaly Tours to make the most of our time. I was not disappointed!!! What an amazing experience :) The (small, family-owned) tour company put together an amazing itinerary and arranged all of the tickets, so that we could see all of the city's highlights efficiently.
And our personal tour guide (Arianna) was the sweetest person <3 I don't know how she is able to keep all of that information in her head! As someone who is not particularly an art or history enthusiast, she had me absolutely enthralled with all her knowledge!!! I am SO glad we decided to book this experience, as I know I could never have truly appreciated Rome on my own.
This was a cultural extravaganza that I will NEVER forget. Thank y’all so much!
And bless you Arianna for educating this simple Texas girl :)

Your thanks and appreciation of Arianna's 2-day tour in Rome is wonderful to read! Thank you for your enthusiasm and wonderful praise of both Arianna as well as for the tour we put together for you. It is something of a "feat" to see Rome in 2 days but it sounds like you had a fantastic time and have gone home with great memories. You don't know how pleased this makes us! Thank you for letting us be part of this first-time-in-Rome experience and for your vert enthusiastic review. Angelo and Kristin

The tour was Vatican and Sistine Chapel: 3 Hour small group tour. Our tour guide Davide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He showed us the more important works of art while giving us information about the Vatican history, art history and a lot of other interesting facts.
The 3 hours went by super fast and we found the tour very entertaining and totally worth it. In such a big place it is very helpful to have someone with Davide knowledge to guide you.

Many thanks for your positive review and high rating of the Vatican and Sistine Chapel tour you took with Davide. Thank you also for mentioning how big and overwhelming the Vatican museum is and how much more enjoyable the experience is when you have a guide to help you navigate all the artwork and give you insights into the artists and the history of the Vatican. Your comments are "right on" and we are truly grateful for your kind praise of Davide. All the best Angelo and Kristin

Today we enjoyed roaming Roma with Luca and LivItaly Tours, Rome! What an amazing experience to be shuttled around via a surprisingly comfortable golf cart. Luca is a very knowledgeable, considerate and enthusiastic guide, who enabled us to show our 82 year old mother the eternal city, including some of the hidden treasures and the more famous monuments and sights. I highly recommend the Private Rome Golf Cart Tour, especially if you have a family member or friend with mobility concerns.

We had visited The Vatican City several years ago in a larger group. It was a good introduction to The Vatican, but we knew we wanted to go back for a better and more relaxed visit.

We just finished our private tour with Laura S. And it was absolutely fantastic.

We took the Private Early Morning Vatican Tour and we added the special Cabinet of the Masks tour. It was just my wife and I along with our guide, Laura S. I would highly recommend the early morning tour so that you get some time in The City before the crowds get larger. I would also highly recommend the Cabinet of the Masks addition as well as it is not open to the public without this addition to your ticket. Laura S really made that part special by explaining what we were observing. That was very special.

We got to see so much and Laura fed us as much information and history as we wanted. It was a very beautiful tour, and Laura S. made it that much more special for us. Grazie Laura!

This was an excellent virtual talk about the works of Caravaggio and the pieces in the Borghese Gallery. Mike is a well informed Art Historian that explains the artist and his works in a way that helps you connect the history and the works and relate to the artist. Why he had the subjects and models, how he used lighting, and why he was the “Bad Boy of Baroque”. It’s a great way to spend “lockdown” time, there was also an interactive question and answer session. Can’t wait for the next one!!

I had originally signed up for a small group Colosseum Underground Tour, however, due to COVID restrictions the underground was closed. LivItaly Tours were able to make up for this by issuing me a refund of the difference of tour price, as well as supply an amazing guide, Deborah, for what ended up being a solo tour. Deborah was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her city and it's history. She takes great pride in her work and ensures that you understand Roman history and how the different sites incorporate into it. I highly recommend Deborah, she is a true professional and historian.

We're so pleased to know that, despite Covid-caused disadvantages, your Colosseum and Ancient Rome tour with us was still a success. Deborah is indeed a great guide and she has that very special way of sharing with you her fascination and enthusiasm about ancient roman history. We'll be sure that she knows of your wonderful review and your praise for her tour. Thank you for writing such a lovely review and all best wishes Angelo and Kristin
