The area

Neighborhood: Trevi
A non-stop photo and souvenir opportunity, Trevi is all about action. From early morning through the wee hours, the piazza surrounding Trevi Fountain hosts a never-ending flow of tourists hoping to make a wish or take a selfie. Clever restaurants, charming gelaterias, uncanny bars, kitsch shops, and a range of hotels make up the local landscape. Beneath the bustle are the remains of an ancient neighborhood that you can visit by heading over to a repertoire cinema and asking for a peek underground. There is something for everyone, but if peace and quiet are what you seek, plan to visit in the early morning hours.

The Quirinale Palace is now the official residence of the President of Italy.
it was constructed in 1583 by Pope Gregory XIII as a summer retreat, and has since housed thirty popes and hosted four conclaves.
It was requisitioned after the fall of papal Rome in 1871 for use by King Vittorio Emmanuele.
It is the sixth largest building in the world, in terms of area.

The Piazza has nice views and is right next to the Presidential Palace. I was simply walking to as many locations as possible and didn't know exactly what this was until asked one of the guards near the palace. Since visiting I have learned that you can book a tour of the Palace or at least the Palace museum. Honestly there was so much going on that I would probably just skip this place in hindsight. One thing it did offer was pretty good views of the city.

Located between an Obelisk and the Quirinale Palace.
Was busy when we visited as the President was negotiating between two political parties to come to an agreement.
Looked really interesting with TV reporters around.

Despite the description this was the most underwhelming thing I have seen. We were promised seasonal music from the band, but that didn’t happen either!

This piazza is very large and caught my attention from a few blocks away due to the steps leading up to it. There’s a courthouse next to it with a lot of police and security. It’s much less busy than others.

Accidentally found this piazza on one of our nights in Rome. Large square with fountain in the center. Great view of the Vatican from here . The Quirinale Palace is here and now acts as the president's residence .

We ventured here after seeing the Pantheon, a little walk, however, as it is located on the highest of the seven hills of Rome, it took it out of us, however the view of the city and st peters church is worth the effort. The square is quite big, also home to the palace of the same name , the centre piece of the square, is the beautiful fountain of Dioscuri, from there it is an easy walk up the road to see many more attractions, like, the fountain of Moses.

My family and I walked through this plaza numerous times on our way to the Trevi Fountain; this area is very spacious and had a really cool obelisk inside of it; worth checking out only if in the area;

This is an absolutely humungus piazza with a column surrounded by statues that are great. Loads of police/carabinieri/army there when we visited due to the fact that a new Prime Minister were about to be installed. Well worth a visit.

We stumbled across this by accident, as we were looking for the Spanish steps and realised it was somewhere important with the obelisk, fountain and police presence.
Amazing view across the city, worth a look.
