We (four of us - mom, dad and two kids - 8 and 10) showed up for pasta making class in a dark rainy day so our hosts could not use their beautiful rooftop terrace and - we were wet and cold. One other last minute participant showed up (Kevin) who seemed just as wet and just as cold as us.

And - none of that made any difference. Francesco and his lovely partner are warm, welcoming, gracious and funny hosts - we learned how to make ravioli and spaghetti, had lots of wine, a great lunch and mostly - had a great time.

As usual (this seems to be a European thing) they were genuinely happy to see kids and amazing with them - they took their time with the kids and the adults and they are just naturally nice people.

We actually learned some real skills (I believe I can make pasta now, from scratch, I’m going to when I’m back home) but that was secondary - mostly it was just a REALLY nice relaxing afternoon with new friends. Kevin, who was as nice as can be, seemed to have enjoyed himself as well.

Highly recommend to anyone and everyone - they do a longer ‘Italian cooking classy’ - we will definitely do that when back in Rome.

Thank you!!!!

I have spent an evening cooking with teenagers and adults, coordinated by Francesco. The choice of dishes allowed me to revolutionize my understanding of gnocchi, to prepare the lightest Carbonara I've ever eaten and to taste egg pasta as I had never tasted it. Real egg pasta. Cooking with Francesco means understanding that home cooking is unsurpassed and that you can surpass yourself! Word of neophyte :)

My husband and I attended this pasta making experience along with a group of others who we met for the first time that night.

I can only say positive things about it. The setting was beautiful, the people fun, friendly and knowledgeable and the food we cooked was delicious.

It was paired with several local wines and wonderful hospitality. We wholeheartedly recommend this experience if you’d like a Roman adventure and something a little different.

I can’t stress enough how magical and absolutely perfect this experience was for us! Definitely the highlight of our trip to Rome and I can’t speak highly enough of the host chefs and their lovely home.

Francesco and his partner are absolute pros-super knowledgeable and detail oriented. When we arrived at their home, they had Prosecco and appetizers beautifully laid out for us. They are both so warm and hospitable and we felt immediately at home!

Outside of the terrace, they laid out our aprons and work stations. The class isn’t huge which meant we had individual attention throughout. Our group made ravioli and linguini and we learned all about pasta making techniques. It was fun working as a team, especially when rolling out the linguini! We had white wine also to drink while making the pasta.

After cooking, we headed upstairs to another part of the roof where the table was beautifully set for lunch! I felt like I was at a Michelin star restaurant-the attention to detail was wonderful and the food was delicious! We ended enjoyed some local dessert tart as traditional Italian coffee after our meal. Of course, wine was on the table for the meal as well!

We ended the day with going to the very top of the roof where you can enjoy 360 views for Rome! If you do one thing in Rome, book a cooking class with Rhomechef—it’s unique and you’ll remember it long after you return home.

This is one of the top 2 things we did in Rome. We arrived to wine and appetizers which helped set the relaxed mood. Then we made several different kids of pasta from scratch with sauces. There were 2 children in our group (not mine) and they were great with them making them feel included. They explained the whole process perfectly and emailed us the recipes afterwards and I really think i can do it at home on my own now. They explained what could go wrong and how to fix it but they made it all sounds so easy and with them it was! At the end we went up the their rooftop deck and ate our meal (with more wine, Limoncello, and desert included) it was very good with sauces made with fresh local ingredients. I highly recommend this even if your not a cook they make it so easy and so fun.

We had an amazing time cooking and making pasta on the rooftop. A unique experience that was well worth it! Both chefs were very personable and taught us a lot as we were beginners. They even sent us photos and recipes after we completed the class.

First of all, this was so much fun for our group. We had 5 women traveling from the US for an intense work trip and this was our final day together. When I found this experience online, I did my initial research and thought for the price, this would be a great team building experience. Getting there was a crazy taxi ride (like every Italian taxi ride) and the instructions for arrival were perfect. No confusion at all. When the elevator door opened, we were greeted by a lovely woman, Elena, with a big smile welcoming us into her home she presumably shares with her chef partner Francesco. So it was the 5 of us, a couple from LA and twin sisters in college on spring break. We started with gorgeous sausages, olives, cheese and bubbles (thats a great start!) and once everyone arrived, we were taken to the roof top deck for views of Rome. We were set to dine outside, but the weather was not cooperating. After a casual intro of the city view, we were invited back down to get our last bites of apps in, put our aprons on and get started. On a massive table laid wooden cutting boards, all the necessary tools for rolling dough and our ingredients carefully measured for each person. The man teaching us (sorry I forgot his name but he had dark hair/moustache/beard) is a classically trained chef that worked in Italy and the US. His humor was subtle and intelligent and charming. He gave us easy instructions for making the dough. I over worked mine a bit and any others that had mild challenges, he came to fix immediately. Once the dough was mixed we wrapped it in film and learned what kind of pastas we were making that day. He went into detail about gluten chains and what makes the dough do what it does. He set up a single gas burner and big skillet and invited one of the college girls to sauté the gianciale as he explained the ravioli filling (fresh asparagus tips and 2 kinds of ricotta). This part was pre-made by him and he let us all taste. He expertly sliced up steamed artichoke and explained about seasonality and what a fresh artichoke should look like. He invited another attendant to mix the artichoke with the ricotta and asparagus mix as we learned more about his career and what was coming next. When our dough was ready he showed how to roll it out and run it through the Imperial Pasta manual machine. He gave perfect instructions and I was excited to see if mine could match his. I overworked my dough a bit but my wife's came out perfect. He showed us how to fill & cut ravioli! Just like that, I saw what I was about to eat in the next hour and got super excited. He also showed some other pasta shapes. I asked for a few different examples and without skipping a beat, he busted out orrechiate, strotzapretti, penne and so many more! Next he brought out a Chitarra (dying to have one) to show us how to authentically cut spaghetti. Now this was FUN! We all had a blast doing this part. We hung the pasta up on a little stand and then after cleaning up, we went inside to enjoy lunch. We had each course with wine from a family vineyard and ended with a home made dessert of fruit crostata and espresso. I didn't want the flavors to end. The company, the atmosphere and the warm hospitality was so perfect, this review does not do it justice. I recommend you book this asap and bring all your friends. When I am back in Rome, I will for sure visit RHOME chef! Thank you!
