The Piazza del Colosseo next to the Coliseum is equally nice for visit by tourists. The Arch should be another icon for photo-taking. Nonetheless, do aware of the the crowds around as pick-pockets would be busy in finding their targets.
Right outside the Coliseum is a large area called Piazza del Colosseo. The history here is amazing just as most of the ruins in Rome. Nice area to walk around and take photos of the Coliseum. Filled with tourists but still manageable.

After walking and standing in the sun at the colosseum we were keen to get some food and refreshments and it was fabulous. Well priced and very delicious. The cool bear hit the spot. Managed our large group with ease and were very welcoming.
