The medieval “little pope’s tower” stands off to one side of Largo Argentina. You cannot go inside. Worth looking at for a bit if you are visiting Largo Argentina.

This tower is located at one corner of Largo di Torre Argentina. This tower is not the one that gave name to this area. This is a medieval tower was erected in the early 1300’s. It is not clear where the name Papito originated, however there are a couple theories

This actually looks like a lonely out of place tower as it is on the edge of roman ruins, standing all by its self. There were once building leaning against the tower, however, in 1941 they were demolished. Restoration has been undertaken to bring it back to its original appearance. Probably not a stand alone attraction, however, worth a visit combined with the ruins and the cat sanctuary.

Worth a quick walk to. Some great ruins that appear to have been taken over by stray cats. Take 10 minutes out to see how many you can spot! Take an ice cream with you so you don't rush.
