About
The exhibition is one of its kind in the world, with a collection of 50 previously unseen machines, which are finally allowed to touch and try and certified reproductions of the 23 most famous paintings of the Tuscan Genius. From The Last Supper to Mona Lisa, the recognised masterpieces have been reproduced full scale according to the typical procedures of the Renaissance workshops and using the same materials (of 500 years ago!) Leonardo used. The visit includes an Audio guide too.

The area
Address
Neighborhood: Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.

The Museum shows really cool inventions and paintings from Leonardo DaVinci. Sadly it does only take about 30 min to max. 1 hour to go through and the inventions and paintings are rather closely placed. A all in all nice Museum but I wouldn’t visit a second time.

The Da Vince museum, just off Piazza Popolo in Rome is worth a visit. They have created working models of many of his inventions from his drawings and writings in his codices. We paid for the audio tour which was a little confusing seeing that many displays had three sets of numbers which coincided with different audio tours. Near the end I finally figured out what was what. This is a good rainy day activity if you tire of visiting the multitude of cathedrals in Rome.

Just a block away from the Vatican this nice 2 level museum is worth a visit. Very friendly staff and nice and cool on a hit Rome day. One floor had I hands on inventions to try and the other floor had painting. All explained by a tape recorder that is activated by touching it to the picture of the guide map. Very ingenious method. I am sure Leonardo would have approved of it himself.

This is not the biggest or best, but if your in the area, a nice 1 hour place to get aquainted with Leonardo's work. Several hands on things to do. Interesting virtual reality to watch. Tip... You have to hold it up to your face. Don't pull away or it will start over from the beginning! Nice gift shop for maybe the hard to find a give for type person.

We had a fantastic time visiting this newly opened Leonardo Da Vinci museum. The location is just 200m away from St Peter's Square at the Vatican.
Walked around and tried out some of Da Vinci's inventions distributed in 4 halls.
Admired replicas of Leonardo's masterpieces including a full size painting of the Last Supper.
Great value of money and experience not to miss.

I love this place because you have the chance to see all the works of the genius Da Vinci that it's impossible to see together in the same place.
Explained wonderfully!! I'll surely come back.

Me and my partner only decided to go here last minute and we are really glad we did. The exhibition was really interesting- we had no idea Da Vinci invented so much and it was great that you could use the items. Our favourite was the box of mirrors. The experience was great value for money but what really made the visit was the staff. They were friendly, helpful- but not in an overbearing way- and knowledgeable. The shop had a lot to offer and was also reasonably priced. Particularly liked the fridge magnets painted by a local artist. If we had not been at the end of our holiday with little money left we would have bought a few. Would definitely recommend and visit again when next in Rome.

Thanks from every member of the staff for your kind words, we have all really appreciated them. We’re really glad you visited our museum and we hope to see you soon, next time you come to Rome. We let the local artist read your review and he was really touched. Best Regards, Leonardo

It's amazing how much fun I had in this Museum!!! So interesting the experience to touch and play with all the machines and you can take pictures too. At the second floor there is also a gallery where you can see 23 wonderful copies of the masterpieces of Leonardo's paintings. To be seen, for sure!!!

"Incredibile" quanto mi sono divertito in questo museo!!! E' molto interessante poter toccare e giocare con le macchine e poter anche fare le foto.
Al piano inferiore si trova una galleria dove si possono ammirare 23 meravigliose copie delle pitture di Leonardo. Consigliatissimo!!!

Randomly found this walking around the vatican area, it was surprisingly good an not expensive either! The guys gave us a free pencil, little bonus there. It was awesome seeing Da Vinci's work and as a replica you can play with em! He was such a genius and surprising how much he contributed to the technology used everyday in these times.

We stumbled on this coming down from St. Peter's Square from Vatican City. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Rather than going to a hectic exhibition, this offers small replicas of Da Vinci's inventions and paintings and there are explanations in both Italian and English which are very interesting and informative. The experience is great value for money and like a hidden treasure. There is wifi available, you can take photos and touch the replicas to understand how amazing and ahead of his time Da Vinci was.
