Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced...

Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced in giving guided tours of Rome and the Vatican in English.

Although all of our guides are licensed tour guides in Rome and the Vatican, they each have our own areas of expertise. We have archaeologists, art historians, and university lecturers among our ranks, and as our reputation has grown we continue to invite similarly-qualified guides to join us.

Our philosophy is simple: We believe that tours should be fun as well as informative. We also believe that our customers are best served in small groups. For this purpose, we strictly limit our semi-private tours to only 13 people.

Our fees are honest and reflect the small sizes of our groups. We include ticket prices in our tour fees where tickets are applicable, and we always skip the lines. Headsets are provided so you can walk around and still hear your live guide.

Our customer base and reputation have been growing steadily over the past few years, and we promise to continue to strive to deliver the perfect Rome experience for all our future guests. We hope to see you on one of our tours in 2016!

We had an archealogist as a tour guide, so he could give us lots of great perspectives on digging in the area and how professionals have interpreted history. The tour was fascinating.

We did the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill tour. It is a more expensive way of doing it but definitely worth the money. You get to see parts of the Colosseum that the normal ticket doesn't get you too. Our tour guide was so interesting and knowledgable, giving you a feel of what life was like then. You also... More

Me and my daughter did the Coliseum tour with the underground chambers and the Early bird Vatican tour with Real Rome Tours. Both tours were amazing and well organized. Both tour guides Marle and Heidi were extremely knowledgeable and informative about the sites visited. These two tours were the highlights of our trip to Rome, and we enjoyed every minute... More

We did the Colosseum (incl underground and third ring), Roman Forum and Palatine Hill tour. Great tour with a great guide. Only thing is we didn't book far enough in advance so could only get an afternoon time slot (1 - 4:30pm). July in Rome is very hot and this tour is outside for the full 3.5 hours. So book... More

We highly recommend this tour company! We did the Ancient Rome tour with Colosseum (with underground) and it was well worth the money. Marle was very knowledgeable and the tour was fascinating. The benefits of skipping lines and having access to special areas was very nice as well. We wished we had also signed up for the Vatican tour...will have... More

My husband and I recently spent 15 days in Italy - 5 of which were in Rome. The 8-hour "Rome in A Day" Tour was one of the BEST things that we did while there! This tour was so comprehensive - it covered everything you HAVE to see while there - the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon (all of ancient Rome)... More

What an amazing tour! The tour guide was fantastic. He was Italian but great English and was also a history major. I wish I remember his name.

Our Colosseum Tour with underground access was AMAZING! Definitely worth paying that bit extra to visit the colosseum floor, underground and top tier that other general entry didn't have access to. Our South African tour guide was great - her knowledge was amazing and we loved how she made everything relevant to the present day. Would definitely recommend!

Staying in Prati

Neighborhood Profile
Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the center, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighboring Borgo, Prati is a local favorite for its aesthetic organization and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.
