We visited the Keyhole as part of our visit to the Aventine Hill. On the Wednesday in November at 1:30pm when we visited, there was a line of only 4 or 5 people – took about 5 minutes to wait for our turn.

This peephole is in piazza dei cavalieri Di Malta. There will be a line and you should wait in it. Because it’s the most perfect view of St. Paul’s ever. It’s just hedges and this fairy tale view all to yourself no possibility of self...More

Looking at the long row of people on the square, waiting to peep through a keyhole, you can state that humans have a curious nature. What is there to see: a nice view of the St. Peter's Dome. That's it. You cannot enter the gate...More

Fortunately we have had the opportunity in the past to look through the keyhole of the wooden door to Villa del Priorato di Malta in Piazza Cavalieri di Malta high on Aventine Hill, this destination has become rather popular. After our visit to Testaccio we...More

If weather is even remotely nice/walkable there mught be lines, since only one ete fits tge key hole at time, so its could be wise to avoid peak hours. Aventino on general is a lovely area. Here, like most places in Rome, is a historic...More

A FREE attraction that takes 2-3 seconds, but there was no context given to us, and we had no idea what we were looking at or which direction we were looking. If there is a short line, do it for kicks. It's a neat view...More

Just to advise people who are staying closer to Central Rome, don’t come up al the way to Aventino Hill to check on that hole! Aventino is more of a Gardens, Basilicas and it’s exceptional view!!! Those are the reasons I chose to stay close...More

It took us years, when we discovered this fantastic view. If you are lucky there are not too many people, so you can take excellent photos.

Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is
Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of
ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and
embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the
vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around
the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of
surprises like the clever little keyhole at the
Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find
