You get what you pay for, and this is an inexpensive way to see the city. Especially if it is raining it makes a good way to catch your breath and look around. Also if your spouse doesn't enjoy walking as much as you do. The People were very nice, price is good, Bus was a little soiled.

I wish I'd done this as soon as I arrived and not on my last night!
The staff were very friendly and spoke amazing English. We had the misfortune to go on a rainy evening but the audio tour had me laughing out loud at moments and was thoroughly enjoyable. Amazing to see the colloseum lit up. Well worth €16.

There is nothing horrible to say about this tour. It was sufficient. Just know that in Rome the tour busses cannot access a lot of the sights so you will still end up walking to them. We had a 2 day pass and only used the first day. My recommendation is stay somewhere central in Rome. Everything is fairly close so walking, or bike riding is truly a great option (and fyi I am not a fit person).

I did a lot of research to decide which Hop on Hop Off to use in Rome. None of the companies seemed to snare the best reviews, so I decided to go with the Big Bus. Granted, it was mid-March and not mid July (and starting to get very crowded), but everything was great. Have your bar code ready for scanning when you board, and they'll give you a ticket to use for the rest of your time. A lot of people just aren't prepared to board, and that ties things up. Many of the complaints refer to having to walk far to the sites. It is what it is. All the buses stop at the same places. Our ticket was good for three bus lines, so we didn't always have to wait for the Big Bus. That was nice. Another common complaint was the buses sitting at a stop for a long period of time. I found that to be true for just some of the stops (#6 Vatican City, #1 Rail Terminal and #3 Colosseum...big stops for tourists). The rest of the time they would stop for less than 5 minutes. If in doubt, go with the Big Bus.

Did the Vatican "tour". Bought our tickets near the colosseum and made our way there to the meeting point. We got there about 45 minutes early and two rude guys behind the desk started moaning and complaining that we were late and we have missed the tour?!
Once they realised they have made a mistake (we didn't get an apology) we were just told that we have to go and come back in an hour (30 mins after our time slot). When we got back, we were just handed a piece of paper with our tickets on there, which were priced at exactly half the price we paid for this package, and told to make out own way there!! I thought he was joking...
Anyway, when you see these guys, AVOID! It's just a big SCAM! we could have bought those exact entrance tickets for half the price right at the entrance... there was no group, no tour and no guidance. Scammers.

First the assistant wanted cash not card, but had no change. Then he tried to charge my card twice, assuring us that the first payment had not gone through. Luckily I checked my account before paying again. We were given a map but weren’t given headphones so had no idea where we were. When we saw the headphones on leaving the bus and suggested they may have been useful to us if they’d been offered when we entered the bus the assistant THEN offered them to us. I pointed out the usefulness of the earphones was only while we were on the bus and she shrugged. Couldn’t care less that we wasted $40 each on a bus ride without a guide. Make sure you help yourself to earphones if you take this tour - staff aren’t bothered with anything other than taking your money. Be careful if they tell you your payment didn’t go through too unless you want to pay twice. Perhaps they are on commission.

Utilized the Big Bus Tour in numerous cities across Europe. Always worth it, Youssef in Rome was very helpful with restaurant recommendations locals prefer. These employees are very helpful thank you.

I didn’t do the day hop on/off bus but did go for the night bus after a few days exploring on foot to tie all the sights and city layout together, and to see the monuments lit up by night. The tpur guide Barbara had a thick accent and appeared sick so was very hard to understand her English. Bus tour wasn’t outstanding and didn’t fill me with excitement as other city night buses have done (eg London, Paris). I wouldn’t bother with this one there was more time on road than around sights, and ambience/delivery was overall dull and unexciting. Sorry guys!

This big bus time tour was great! They gave us earphones and printed separate tickets for us as a big group! Definitely recommend using the big bus Rome for big groups or even solo travelers. You have the option to hop on and off at every stop, and go where ever you’d like. Double decker if you’d like to sit inside downstairs or outside upstairs (cover for bad weather).

We booked a colessium tour through Khalil yesterday for today. He was super helpful and friendly. Explained everything to us thoroughly and even put details on our Google maps showing where we had to collect our tickets today, he also advised us on which bus we needed for a separate trip that we didn’t book through him, which he didn’t have to. Overall lovely guy and very helpful

For Rome Big Bus, walking tour on the attractions doesnt include the tour guides or audio guides. Walking tour were options in St Peter's, sistine chapel and Colosseum. But you can pay for an extra if the tour will be facilitated by the guide.
