Please, don't miss 'Gianicolo colle' (one / seven Rome's Hill), neither 'Villa Pamphilii', that's nearby. Therefore, I STRONGLY suggest the 'Zodiaco' at Trionfale Street, in 'Monte Mario', next to 'Hilton Hotel' (free access), you can see a wonderful landscape of Rome :). If you have time enough, strongly recommended 'tour on Appia Antica'.

Terrazza del Gianicolo is the perfect spot to watch the sun rise over Rome. It was about a 40 minute walk from the centre of Rome (Plaza Venezia) - which does mean a very early start - and the last bit of the walk is quite steep. But... the early start and walk are well worth it! Watching the sunrise over the distant hills, watching the orange light slowly flooding the city below and feeling the sun's warmth on your face was an unforgettable experience. You also get an amazing view of St Peter's Basilica from the back of the plaza! Yes, you could visit during the day and, yes, you could get the bus / a taxi but then you would miss the incidental vistas that you see en route... An amazing experience and the walk means that you have an excuse to have an extra croissant at breakfast!

Pretty view and park. We took a cab up and walked down. There are many overlooks as well as a number of kiosks to buy water, juice etc. If you have the time many trails to explore.

It's quite a stiff walk up to the viewing point, especially in hot weather, but it was worth it to see the susnset over Rome. You can see the Vatican, but most of the other familiar sights of Rome aren't visible, so while it's a lovely view most of it is not places you'll recognise. There is a place selling ice cream and some drinks and snacks, which wasn't as expensive as I thought it might be. Afterwards you can descend to Trastevere where there are many good restaurants to choose between for supper.

The views from this area are incredible, especially on a warm spring evening. The whole of Rome lights up and you can watch the sunset over Vatican city, it is definitely worth the walk from Trastevere.

One of the best views of Rome can be had here, on the Gianicolo. Also enjoy the trees, the busts of Italian patriots, and the nearby statues of Garibaldi and his wife, Anita.

Probably the most complete Roman View, you can embrace Roma from the above and see what human hands are capable to do.

We took a little bus (No.115) from just around the corner from the Vatican (well, on the river about a mile away) and this was an absolute delight. Great views over the city and very few tourists. This is a must do in Rome IMHO

The best views from the city of Rome. Easy to get there with buses running every 10 min. 112 or 870 will get you there from the mini bus station at the other side of the river from MiguelAnghelo's castle.
Really nice place to have a drink while watching the gorgeus views, taking some pictures, drawing the skyline or to bring someone on a first date.
