We have just returned from a trip to Rome with our two children, aged 9 and 11. Undoubtedly the highlight of our time there was our tour of the Colosseum and Forum with Valentina. We did the tour on Day 4 of our trip when our children were slightly flagging after a lot sight-seeing but Valentina, with her excellent English, managed to pitch it just right to maintain the children's interest, whist still making it interesting for my husband and me. She was also extremely patient in the face of many interruptions! Valentina took us through the queues with no problems and came armed with activity sheets for the kids and lots of quizzes, competitions and even prizes! Valentina is Roman born and bred and was extremely knowledgable about the city and the ancient world. At the end of the tour, she gave us recommendations for where to eat lunch and where to find the best ice cream! Although a private tour is expensive, we would highly recommend it for anyone travelling with children. We booked a similar tour with the same company in Pompei and it was also excellent. Laura, in the office, is very helpful and accommodating and also speaks excellent English.

Francesca was an absolutely brilliant guide, our children had such a wonderful time. She kept our 5 and 8 year old entertained and informed throughout and even when my 5 yr old got a bit tired and distracted at the end she was so patient with him. It was a wonderful tour for us parents too and we learned loads. I highly recommend Francesca - fun, engaging, patient, informative and a wonderful way with teaching children. Best money spent in Rome.

Our tour guide, Valentina, was just amazing overall! We are a family of 4 and our two daughters, ages 10 and 12 were skeptical of what we were about to do during our tour of the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel. We got to skip the lines (yea!) and had personalized attention. Valentina was so great at captivating our children by making it fun, informative, and even competitive with games! My husband and I learned so much and my daughters at the end of our 10 day vacation in Italy said the highlight of our trip was the tour with Valentina! I have to say this was totally worth the investment - when kids are happy and learning (and adults are too) what more could you ask for?! Big shout out to this team and Valentina for making these tours possible!!! 🤩

I booked two tours for my 7 year-old twin boys, one of the Coliseum and Forum, the other of the Vatican. My boys are a bit like Jack Terrier puppies, so it takes real skill to keep them focused. Francesca, our tour guide, was absolutely brilliant at making all the sites relatable to the boys. They loved her and she made the spaces come alive, so much so, that the boys bought Gladiator costumes and had sword fights the day after. I wanted the boys to get a sense of each place as a foundation for future learning. Francesca helped infuse the spirit of each place within them and the tour was fun and educational beyond expectation. Laura, who arranged the tours was also fantastic, very responsive and helpful with every request. I highly recommend this tour group, you will not be disappointed, indeed, you will be delighted.

We wanted our 6 year old and 9 year old to be interested and engaged in some Roman history during our trip to various cities in Italy and booked this kids tour hoping that 1) it would be designed with kids in mind but still enjoyable to us and 2) it would make it so that we weren’t staring at our phone/a map trying to figure out where to go and what part of the coliseum to go see next while balancing kids. Booking this tour was such a good decision and our kids were so into it, engaged, asking questions. Valentina was so much fun and easily related to and engaged the kids with games and engaging story telling. It was a wonderful tour, highly recommended!

We had the pleasure of visiting the Colosseum and the Vatican City with Kids Tours of Rome. Our guide was the amazing and lovely Valentina and we couldn’t have been happier with the tour and Valentina as a tour guide.
Her extensive knowledge of the areas we visited and things we saw was really impressive and we loved how she was able to keep the kids entertained and interested when they may have otherwise not enjoyed themselves quite as much.
The kids absolutely loved the quiz that Valentina ran each day and were very excited to get their beautiful little prizes at the end of each day.
Valentina was very kind and patient with the kids and managed to move us through the locations we visited at a good pace while still listening to my son talk about the Greek gods (incessantly) and telling him about all she know on the topic.
My daughter named the little bunny she bought in Venice after Valentina so she definitely left a lovely impression with our family and it really was great to spend this time with Valentina.
I definitely recommend Kids Tours of Rome to anyone wanting to visit Italy with kids! I was also grateful to Laura for her assistance and recommendations on what time of day to visit each location as this meant we could avoid the hotter parts of the day and really enjoy our time. The tour was also really well organised in terms of where to meet the tour guide and the quick and great feedback from Laura and the admin team.

Our tour guide Francesca was absolutely incredible. She met us at the front gate with a friendly sign and we bypassed the long entry line up. Our daughter was slightly jet lagged and a little grumpy but Francesca‘s stellar personality turned things around quickly. The tour was perfectly organized but still flexible so that we got to explore deeper when we had questions. Even though Francesca would not reveal the hidden location of the Holy Grail, the tour and our fabulous guide easily gets 5 stars and our highest recommendation.

We did the Colosseum and Vatican and both tours were absolutely amazing for our kids, ages 7 and 11, and even for the adults. Valentina, our guide for both, engaged our children throughout the tour. She also made the entry process very smooth, skipping lines and crowds. Definitely book these tours!

All round professional company who has been a delight to deal with. Laura was so helpful in booking our Pompeii tour and answered all questions I had including many that had nothing to do with the tour at all but were just general travel tips.
Anotnio wa Scott’s class from start to finish. Knew our kids names, had a gift for them and extras. Kept the kids and adults engaged all the time with a great sense of humour and extremely knowledgeable.
I cannot recommend them highly enough!.

How does tipping work for toys in Italy? Did anyone else tip?
Laura Kids tours of Rome

Hi colleenjk,
There are no specific rules regarding the tipping, it depends only on the clients and how much they liked the tour and the guide.
Kind regards,
