We have just returned from a trip to Rome with our two children, aged 9 and 11. Undoubtedly the highlight of our time there was our tour of the Colosseum and Forum with Valentina. We did the tour on Day 4 of our trip when our children were slightly flagging after a lot sight-seeing but Valentina, with her excellent English, managed to pitch it just right to maintain the children's interest, whist still making it interesting for my husband and me. She was also extremely patient in the face of many interruptions! Valentina took us through the queues with no problems and came armed with activity sheets for the kids and lots of quizzes, competitions and even prizes! Valentina is Roman born and bred and was extremely knowledgable about the city and the ancient world. At the end of the tour, she gave us recommendations for where to eat lunch and where to find the best ice cream! Although a private tour is expensive, we would highly recommend it for anyone travelling with children. We booked a similar tour with the same company in Pompei and it was also excellent. Laura, in the office, is very helpful and accommodating and also speaks excellent English.

I would absolutely recommend this to any family. Meeting Marta (our guide) was really easy. We skipped all the lines into the Colosseum (maybe worth it alone). Our guide was really nice and well informed. She answered all of my questions as well as the kids'. Our guide was very personal and if she is not a mother now, she will make a great mother some day. She knew all of the kids ages and talked to them. Her English was great. The kids were very involved and still talk about the history of the coliseum. We really could not say enough about this tour. We have a 3 year old, 7 year old and 12 year old and they all loved it. Marta took her time and seemed like she enjoyed it as well. Our guide Marta is a history scholar. The administrative team was very attentive and called us after we booked to review details we would not have thought of otherwise.

My family of four (kids 7 & 11 yrs old) booked both the Colosseum and Vatican with Kids Tours of Rome. We can't recommend this company enough. Francesca, our guide, was knowledgeable, fun, and patient. She was so engaging that there were people from other tours paying attention. Great experience, and one we will never forget. Thank you Francesca and Laura for coordinating!

We were extremely pleased with our underground tour of Rome. We will never look at Rome the same. The company was very accomodating. Our 12 year old got sick and they offered ( we did not even ask) to push this tour back a day which was great for us. Our guide Valentina was excellent. She had the kids names on her fingers and spoke directly to them. She is a scholar of Roman history and highly knowledgeable. She was also great with all of our kids ( 3/7/12). Even when our kids were acting up, she was more patient than we were with them! That’s not easy. It was very easy to meet up with valentina and we had a great day. I would highly recommend this tour to any family. My wife and I were both pretty impressed with what we learned about the stuff 50 feet below the Rome that the rest of the world sees.

I brought my son who is 6yrs old to visit the colosseum. Francesca was amazing she instantly engaged with my son and taught him all about the history of the colosseum in an extremely child friendly way. Francesca used lots of books and pictures to explain how life used to be which my son really enjoyed. Francesca also played games with prizes and encouraged my son’s questions throughout the tour. Francesca held his attention for the entire tour (I struggle to manage 10 minutes!). I would 100% recommend anyone with young children to not hesitate in booking Francesca as a guide, you will not be disappointed! :)

We booked this tour very late but Laura was very understanding. Our guide was Serena and we toured the Forum and the Colosseum. Serena's English was totally fluent and she kept our three children (and their parents) completely entertained for two and a half hours. No mean feat considering the children are 12, 10 and 8.
I would thoroughly recommend this as a great way to see Rome and learn some interesting facts along the way. You also get to jump some queues!

Our tour guide, Valentina, was just amazing overall! We are a family of 4 and our two daughters, ages 10 and 12 were skeptical of what we were about to do during our tour of the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel. We got to skip the lines (yea!) and had personalized attention. Valentina was so great at captivating our children by making it fun, informative, and even competitive with games! My husband and I learned so much and my daughters at the end of our 10 day vacation in Italy said the highlight of our trip was the tour with Valentina! I have to say this was totally worth the investment - when kids are happy and learning (and adults are too) what more could you ask for?! Big shout out to this team and Valentina for making these tours possible!!! 🤩

We wanted our 6 year old and 9 year old to be interested and engaged in some Roman history during our trip to various cities in Italy and booked this kids tour hoping that 1) it would be designed with kids in mind but still enjoyable to us and 2) it would make it so that we weren’t staring at our phone/a map trying to figure out where to go and what part of the coliseum to go see next while balancing kids. Booking this tour was such a good decision and our kids were so into it, engaged, asking questions. Valentina was so much fun and easily related to and engaged the kids with games and engaging story telling. It was a wonderful tour, highly recommended!

Francesca was an absolutely brilliant guide, our children had such a wonderful time. She kept our 5 and 8 year old entertained and informed throughout and even when my 5 yr old got a bit tired and distracted at the end she was so patient with him. It was a wonderful tour for us parents too and we learned loads. I highly recommend Francesca - fun, engaging, patient, informative and a wonderful way with teaching children. Best money spent in Rome.

I booked two tours for my 7 year-old twin boys, one of the Coliseum and Forum, the other of the Vatican. My boys are a bit like Jack Terrier puppies, so it takes real skill to keep them focused. Francesca, our tour guide, was absolutely brilliant at making all the sites relatable to the boys. They loved her and she made the spaces come alive, so much so, that the boys bought Gladiator costumes and had sword fights the day after. I wanted the boys to get a sense of each place as a foundation for future learning. Francesca helped infuse the spirit of each place within them and the tour was fun and educational beyond expectation. Laura, who arranged the tours was also fantastic, very responsive and helpful with every request. I highly recommend this tour group, you will not be disappointed, indeed, you will be delighted.

Hi colleenjk,
There are no specific rules regarding the tipping, it depends only on the clients and how much they liked the tour and the guide.
