Impressing pillars but not so much is left of the once impressing temple. You have to imagine what it was like at the time

Situated in the Forum. I understood more fully how the forum was composed. With Temple at one end flanked by stores and other temples.

Make sure to set time aside to visit the Temple of Apollo when you visit Pompeii. There is not a lot left of it, but it is amazing to see.

Entering from the entrance of Porta Marina after the steep climb on the left you can admire this ancient temple which was dedicated to Apollo. This temple held the administrative practices of the city of Pompeii plus there was the court. The statue of Apollo the archer can be seen in the center of the temple. Inevitable at the beginning of the visit of the excavations adjacent to the forum and the basilica

The temple of Apollo is located right near the forum and still contains some fully standing columns. As such there is some imagination to be had to fully appreciate the scale of the temple in full glory.

Amazing to see all the bricks and the columns still here, you can touch and feel history quite literally. Great experience.

July 2016. We toured through Pompei and its sites in the scorching July heat. But the temperature did not take away from the amazing Temple of Apollo and its surrounding structures. I like to envision what it was like 2000 years ago, and the massive ruins truly allow you to step back in time with ease.
