Pina was an exquisite tour guide. First off, her English was excellent. There was zero language barrier, I know she speaks Italian and English fluently (ask about other languages I know there is more), but more importantly she understood Latin very well and could speak on all of the writings at the historical sites. My Italian is poor, my Fiance speaks Italian well, but not on a scholarly level, so it was very convenient.
Her VAST knowledge of ancient culture and geography was just astonishing. She gave a very detailed and well rounded explanation of every portion of Pompeii from architecture to superstitions. Even when there was no definitive historical explanation she used her understanding of ancient cultures to give her own comprehensive analysis. She was full of anecdotes and stories about Life, Engineering, and Politics of this ancient society.
Our Tour was approximately 8 hours in total and included Pompeii, Villa dei Misteri, Lunch, and transportation. We planned to hike Vesuvius after the Pompeii portion of the tour, but the weather was not the greatest, so Pina recommended another site and adjusted on the fly. I was shocked at the initial price, then after the tour felt like we had gotten away with a robbery. The ability to divulge the most intricate aspects of Pompeii, Rome, Italy, the Greek & Egyptian influence, the society and social structure as a whole was more than I could have ever imagined. Pina is a dedicated life long scholar, therefore is absolutely priceless as a guide. She is politically savvy and in tune with recent politics as well as the ancient policies.
The Lunch that she had planned out was delicious, quiet and the conversation was friendly and informative. The transportation was luxurious, convenient, and comfortable we felt safe throughout the entire experience. We heard some stories about Naples train station, and Pina made sure there were no issues. The only downside to the entire day was that it ended. Aside from being a wealth of knowledge and experience, Pina was just a pleasant person to be around. I would highly recommend spending as much time as possible learning about Pompeii and the Naples region of Italy with Pina on a guided tour.
We miraculously came across her information, so in hopes to make it easier for you I will provide her contact information that we used. We just visited in February 2018.

Pina did a fantastic tour of Naples for us. I work in tourism and spent a great amount of time researching and asking fellow tour leaders who the best guide of Naples was - and the answer was unanimous: Pina Esposito. I must say that she lived up to her reputation, and helped us seamlessly navigate the city (something I was worried about with young children) and see the most important sites, providing great insight along the way. My only regret is that we didn't have more time to do the Archeological Museum and Pompei with her as well, as she is expert in these areas. Highly recommended.

My husband and I had a private tour with Mario! He is over 70 years old and is spry as they come! Mario is an archaeologist and really knows Pompeii. He has such a passion and was able to tell us things that were not in the standard brochures provided. His private tour cost was worth every penny!!

There isn't enough space here for me to write how amazing this experience was. My only advise is to go see it. The guided your was good, but leave time to explore yourself.

Contact Giuseppe Galano at info@visitpompeii.it for a fabulous tour of Pompeii. He met us (party of 4) at the gangway of Ruby Princess on Nov 25, 2013 with a comfortable Mercedes minibus (for just the 4 of us!). We got to Pompeii at 9am ahead of the tour buses and had the whole site to ourselves for 2 and half hours until the buses arrived. His tour and commentary were all-inclusive and most informative. Cheaper than ship tour and did not have to move in a crowd of 45-50. Tour also included a drive on the Almafi Coast, a lunch stop in Positano at a restaurant high on the cliff over the beach, and a stop in Sorrento.

During our family holiday in January we decided to take our children to visit Pompeii. Giuseppe came highly recommended by a friend who had previously been on the tour. We originally thought that the children, being young, would loose interest very quickly. How wrong were we! Giuseppe, with his passion for the subject, really brought Pompeii back to life and kept the children s interest alive the whole time! ( it s not a small feat). His knowledge, patience (with the many questions that were fired by the children), and down to earth attitude made the trip an unforgettable experience.

We found VisitPompeii thru Tripadvisor and are thrilled we did. We contacted Giuseppe and he set up a tour to meet our needs. Gennaro picked us up at the Naples train station, took us to Vesuvius for a walk up to the rim, then drove us on to Pompeii where we got lunch. Giuseppe met us there for a two-hour tour. It was very informative and could not have been better. Then Gennaro, who had waited patiently with our luggage in his car, drove us to our hotel in Sorrento. We asked Gennaro about a ride back to Naples a few days later and he showed up in Sorrento and drove us back to the train station. we could not have been happier with both of these gentlemen. The cost of all this was well inline with other tours/car services and the peace of mind was worth it to us.

My husband and I went on a private tour of Pompeii with Giuseppe (Pepe) Galano. This tour was definitely one of the most memorable tours of our holiday. Pepe was absolutely incredible. He had such an amazing amount of knowledge and was so passionate about Pompeii. He knew Pompeii like the back of his hand and was able to easily keep us away from the crowds while finding some fantastic hidden gems. My husband and I were already very keen to see Pompeii, but Pepe just took our experience above and beyond our expectations. Also - the other reviews I see are so true! Pepe would lead us round, referring to us as his "family." His personality, passion and knowledge just made for such an incredible experience. Definitely definitely definitely recommend!!!!!!

Our group of 6 (4 adults and 2 kids) toured Capri and Pompeii with Giuseppe. He picked us up from our cruise port and treated us like family in showing us around. The tour was absolutely amazing! We took many tours throughout our 10-day cruise (Rome, Athens, Ephesus, Rhodes, Malta, Barcelona, and Florence/Pisa) and this one was by far the best and Giuseppe was by far the best guide.

We started with a tour of Capri on boat and walked around the island after. Giuseppe knew all the ins and outs and got us discounts and efficiently moved us about away from the crowds. After that we had lunch in Sorrento with a spectacular view of the water. Food was fantastic and the experience was especially memorable.

The highlight of the tour though was Pompeii. Giuseppe turned on the excitement level in giving us a personal tour of the city from the stadium to the brothel to the bodies. It made all the other guests walking around jealous of the level of attention and the history details our small group got.

Can't say enough about Giuseppe. From email communication before the tour to guiding the tour itself, he was an overachiever. He's going to be the benchmark of which all future guides and tours will be judged unfortunately (for everyone else). Highly recommended...don't hesitate or he's going to be booked! Thank you, Giuseppe!

For anyone wanting a world class private tour of the Amalfi Coast & Pompeii, Giuseppe (a.k.a. Pepe) is in a league of his own. He and his driver met us at the port of Naples and we were immediately on our way. Pepe is engaging, funny and extremely knowledgeable. We did the Sorrento to Positano to Pompeii route and it was worth the money. Best of all, Pepe never asked for any money up front. We first stopped in Sorrento for some souvenirs and some high octane coffee...wow! Picking up a music box in Sorrento is a must. Then, we made the journey to Positano which is a place like out of a movie scene. Lots of people but the crowds kept moving the scenery was incredible. We had some free time in the town and beach area which was easy to get around in. We then headed to La Tagliatta for lunch. A better view will simply not be found anywhere in the world. If you have food allergies, Mama from La Tagliatta will take great care of your needs.

Afterwards, we headed to Pompeii. Pepe's knowledge of this incredible place is vast. He pointed out the little things that you would certainly not discover on your own. The tour never dragged on and for the entire 3 hours we were there he was constantly sharing information with us about the ruins. Pepe said we walked 4 miles during our visit of Pompeii but it honestly never felt that way.

He and his driver were always conscious of the time and kept us on schedule so that we would get back to our ship early. Since Naples is the most populous, per capita, city in Europe, he made sure traffic was a non-issue. We can't thank him enough for his hospitality and for sharing his vast knowledge of the area with us. We will be coming back to the area for a longer stay and will be sure to take advantage of his services upon our return.
