Antonio De Curtis Griffo Focas Comneno Gagliardi, principe di Bisanzio a.k.a. Totò in spite of his noble origin, was born in this flat and lived there until the age of 24. He was one of the masterpiece of the Neapolitan comedy both in theater and on movie. His characters represent the poor neapolitan people who know the art of tricks just to survive to misery. The house is small and located into a old building. There should be a museum devoted to him, but when I was there only the stairs and his door were accessible. The people love Totò today more than yesterday but the authorities do not care too much about it. Sometime, they promise a museum and even more, but at the end they do little or nothing. In order to visit his house, I would like to suggest a guided tour, indications are missing and it is too easy to get lost in the numerous lanes of the neighborhood that sometime, may be even unsafe.

Nothing special. There is a poster on the door and nothing more. The house cannot be visited
Stop by only if you are in the Sanità area or if you are waiting to go to the Catacombs.
Not very easy to find in the maze of streets of the district.
It's not worth going specially.

Interesting, very well looked after, but there are no things or exhibits that show you the personality of the great Totò

The building where famous and beloved Totò was born and lived until he was 24, when he moved with his family to Rome, is located in Rione Sanità, a poor neighborhood in Naples. The building is in a very bad state and could really be the definition of the word “poor”. While looking at the building, we met a local neighbor who was very helpful and started talking to us and showing around. We even went upstairs (obviously not entering the apartment). The man also said that they were supposed to open this site to the public and put a basket for donations. The plan changed because of the pandemic. I sincerely liked to be standing there, it’s quite a moving experience and honestly you could feel more where the actor was born and grew up (the original conditions and everything) but I understand what the majority of reviewers are saying about the shameful state of the building. It would be nice to know and see that the city respected and cared enough to make this building more decent.

Yes I know.
You see the entrance hall of the palace and the door of his house.
On the other hand, if the state and the municipality don't get there, someone has to do something.
And thank goodness there are associations that are fighting to give visibility to a sacred monster of cinema so that the house, where he was born and where his mother lived, doesn't go to waste.
And even if it is just a door that door must become something else.

I came there from Turin and it was an obligatory stop for my family's passion for Totò... yes, I was sorry to find it so abandoned but unfortunately if there is no financer it becomes difficult for a city like Naples to even think of these houses .. it's a shame . but I'm happy to have been there

Why leave it abandoned? Is it possible that no one cares??? If you are visiting the Sanità district, it is normal for a tourist or fan of the magnificent Totò to want to stop by your house. What can be done?

Beautiful holiday, Naples never disappoints, we found the historic center really well organised, we stayed near the Pignasecca market, unlike other truly neglected places and neighbourhoods; the food was exceptional, we tasted most of the traditional Italian specialties and the unforgettable puff pastry and snowflake; I recommend organizing visits to the monuments well, if possible book online, unfortunately we were unable to see some sites, which is a reason to return

If you have time to waste, go ahead.
After entering the houses of the Sanità district, you will find a building with a blow-up of Totò outside.
That's all.
Absolutely not recommended.
It's a real waste of time!

Nothing because beyond the plaque attached to the building you wouldn't see anything, it's a dilapidated building with two abandoned windows. Total disappointment
