Precisely, today of the Immaculate, I have the opportunity to write of my memories of this obelisk. Of the three great obelisks of Naples, this is the most recent. Baroque in style was raised in the 18th century. Today the city’s fire brigade has a nice relationship with this monumental obelisk.

Obelisk Of The Immaculate are monumental columns and located in the historic centre of the city.
They are of Baraque style.
They were built to celebrate the end of the plague.
We dined nearby in this square where several restaurants are located.

I love visiting the historic squares of big cities. here I saw this fascinating obelisk of which, however, I do not know the history. the historic buildings such as pignatelli are also very beautiful. more the other beautiful sculpture is the fountain of monteoliveto and the nearby church of santa anna dei lombardi.

The Obelisco dell'Immacolata is one of several obelisks scattered throughout Naples and considered as the most beautiful of them all.
Established as a token of gratitude to Madonna by the survivors of the 1631 earthquake.
Don’t miss out on this AMAZING work of art.

The Obelisco dell'Immacolata is a rather construction in the Piazza del Gesu Nuovo, outside the church of the same name. The piazza itself is nice enough. The obelisk was apparently erected sometime in the 18th century. It has a bit of history around it too.

This towering monument has a dual purpose. Besides being an interesting photo spot, it also assures you that you are not lost and you have indeed found the Church of Gesu Nuovo.

This monument is to the immaculate conception and stands about 100 feet into the air. Pity as is not well maintained and grass / weeds getting old of it. Very nice stonework.

The obelisk, dedicated to the immaculate conception of the virgin Mary, was erected in the Piazza del gesù Nuovo, on the initiative of the Jesuits. As I understand it, to strengthen the faith so contrary to common sense event. Practical Jesuits used for the obelisk, a column on which once stood king Philip V, who removed in 1707 during the occupation of Naples by the Austrian troops during the war of the Spanish succession. Immaculate Mary is to a height of 12 meters and together with the pedestal as much as 30. This is the high Baroque monument in Naples. Every year on 8 December at the statue wearing a wreath of flowers in honor of the immaculate conception.

Although I consider it a monument, it is officially an obelisk. It is the last of three great obelisks in the City, having been erected in the eighteenth century after that of San Gennaro and San Domenico.
It dates to between 1747/1750 and replaced an equestrian sculpture dedicated to Philip V. Impressive at an overall height of approx. 33m including the sculpture of he Virgin Mary. It is considered one of the finest examples of Baroque sculpture in Naples.
