A great destination to get the lay of the land, with spectacular views over the Bay of Naples and towards Mt Vesuvius. Catch the funicular up the hill and spend some time wandering around the suburb of Vomero while you are there.

Can take funicular to top. Entrance is free. Nice views from top. Can walk down many steps to bottom if want variety.

The castle was closed to visit, but we could enter for free to enjoy the overwhelming view of the city and its areas (Capri, Ischia, etc).

The views from the castle are excellent, with Vesuvio, Capri and the bay of Naples. The castle itself has no interest

You have to go up to have an overview over Napoli! You se not only the city, but also the whole gulf and its islands – and even a wildfire, as we did...

The castle itself is amazing, as is the view over the city and the Bay of Naples. It is best to read up a bit and know about the history of the castle in order to better appreciate it and the overall experience. Some believe...More

The very best view of the town, you can see both side of Naples: - the "ancient town" Nea-polis built up by the Greeks with the typical 3 decumans based plant; up from the castle you can easily recognize Spaccanapoli, (the inferior decuman) which cuts...More

Lots of people pass this place up because it's up on a hill in Vomero; seemingly out of the way and not in the main tourist path at the bottom of the hill. But the ride up the funicular is interesting, as is the walk...More

Best views of Napoli and surrounding area, including the golf, the islands and Vesuvius. Inside there is a nice little art museum, too – a lot of Neapolitan artists, After the visit you can stop for a snack or lunch at Renzo e Lucia restaurant,...More

I'm not sure because it's a no working day in Italy, but I guess so. Opening hours from 8.30am to 7.30 pm but the ticket shop closes at 6.30.
