The visit to the Spanish Palace was an unforgettable experience! This extraordinary Baroque masterpiece in the heart of Naples is a true architectural jewel. The majestic staircase, which is the centerpiece of the building, is a work of art that tells stories of elegance and a fascinating past.

Special thanks go to our host Nicolò, who welcomed us with warmth and great professionalism. Not only was he extremely kind, but he shared with us fascinating stories and historical details about the palace and the city of Naples. His passion for this place was evident and made our visit even more special.

If you visit Naples, you can not miss the Spanish Palace. And if you are lucky enough to meet Nicolò, you will live a unique and memorable experience. Thank you very much, Nicolò, for the wonderful time you gave us!

Little to add to what is known: the staircase is wonderful, the palace (as far as it is possible to see) as well, and so is the scenographic position, in that stage of baroque fantasies and popular "colour" that is Borgo Vergini alla Healthcare. A few tourists arrive, but expect to be mostly surrounded by locals and their activities (when I arrived an improvised stall was being set up in front of the building's door). In any case, you can always enter the courtyard and take photos. It's a shame that it's mostly private, but it must be said that the state of conservation is much better than that of many Neapolitan palaces.

Built in 1738, in Neapolitan Baroque style by the architect Sanfelice, this palace is in excellent condition after the various restoration works. During the Bourbon period, King Charles III came here to exchange horses for oxen, and then continued towards the palace of Capodimonte. It was also a fascist headquarters, as the plaque at the entrance reminds us. Sets of various films and TV series.

Palazzo dello Spagnolo was erected in 1738. The top floor was added at the end of the 18th century. This building was built after another famous palazzo - Palazzo Sanfelice and, for some reason, it’s in a much better state. I loved the pale green color of the facade and staircases with arches and all the details. You can walk freely there - there is no security. Like the other palazzo, it has also been used in many movies. Definitely worth a stop if you are strolling Rione Sanità.

Majestic historic building in the center of Naples. It is worth reaching it to visit. Rich in history all the surrounding environment. With little you find yourself immersed in the true Neapolitan environment, inimitable warm

I saw this building in the film 'Passione' by John Turturro, about the musical heritage of Naples, and wanted to go and see it when I was nearby.
There's not a lot to see, but the building is amazingly beautiful. The simply symmetry is breathtaking, and the intricate artwork on the arches is wonderful. Unfortunately, the piazza is so small that photos don't really do it justice and you really have to see it to understand how beautiful it was.
If you're nearby, I'd say it's definitely worth visiting, but I wouldn't recommend you go out of your way to see it.

I tried to visit Palazzo dello Spagnolo in Via dei Vergini,19, but all that I could see was a big wooden closed gate...
It seemed to be a private property.Nobody speaks english in the area and I didn't find any person to ask for some informations.
On Via dei Vergini are a lot of fish and seafood sellers. They sell their stuff directly on the street.

Our trip to Naples had a few dramas, commencing with a midnight arrival due to air traffic problems in Europe. Our host Nicolo was nevertheless waiting for us at the airport, always friendly and relaxed befpre and during our stay. The rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. Despite many flights of stairs up through the renaissance building to the b&b rooms on the top floor, we rate this 5 stars for the unique generosity and facilities, including the roof terrace, great all day snacks, wine, coffee, and good breakfast with local pastries. Nicolo's wife Anna was equally gracious and helpful. There is plenty of assistance to get heavy suitcases up and down, order taxis, late night on-site availability of our hosts (who do not actually live in the building) when we needed it. No, not a 5* Palace hotel, but a 5* Neapolitan experience. Location very good for historical centre and general atmosphere of crumbling, beautful Naples!

The doorway alone is majestic enough but the sight of the double-flight external staircase, that effectively separates the main courtyard from the smaller one, is another mega visual, sort of Escher in my twisted mindscape.

Some of the reviewers gave their opinion because they were statying at B&B in this building. We found the place accidentally - "Look inside this gate, seems unusual". The gate was between stalls of the street market, so we were surprised when we entered the courtyard. Former palace, nowadays used just like a normal house. It was built in 18th century and is famous for its elaborate staircase with high arches and ornamented ceilings. Worth a look if you're around.

Similar staircase - althhough in poorer condition - can be found at Palazzo San Felice at Via Sanità 167.
