A beautiful old church in the heart of Naples old town - free to pop in so definitely worth a look and more impressive than the main catheters in my opinion

Don't just walk past, come in and see a masterpiece of baroque. Clearly a church with dedicated visitors coming to particular chapels. Naples is a city where Catholicism is very much alive and practiced in a traditional and full blooded way. This is not the CofE. Whether you come for the architecture, to understand the culture or as a true... More

Near the Dante, near the Archaeological Museum, walk the grtty and life filled streets of this neighborhood then go into an amazingly lovely elegant church. It must contrast the mortal and immortal. Ok, I'm no philosopher.

We very often used the Corso Umberto I as the link between the Piazza Garibaldi with adjacent Stazione Napoli Centrale and the Piazza Giovanni Bovio with the remarkable building of Palazzo della Borsa. Being one day here on the Piazza Bovio, we just turned to the northwest at the suggestion of one Napolitano, to see one, in every sense, remarkable... More

One of the numerous churches in the City but one of the most beautiful. Located on the big square, it attracts the tourists!

We almost did not go in to see this as there were lots of people and dogs blocking one entrance by sitting across all the steps on one side. My son went on an exploration and found another entrance. The interior is very beautiful with a lot of history. We walked around taking in all the details. Shame the outside... More

We saw this breath taking church with Fiorello of Context Tours. I cannot say enough great things about her and the sites of Naples she showed us. She seemed to go out of her way to explain the wonderment of the underground city and this magnificent church -- among other sites. She has an incredible sense of art, so that... More

Dominated by the Santa Chiara church opposite we didn't think that this strangely studded building inside would house such a beautiful Church. The ceiling frescoes are very impressive and we were delighted to learn about the modern day Saint, Giuseppe Moscati. You can see his tomb and watch as Italians pay tribute to his relics. There is also a small... More

Originally the Prince of Salerno’s residence, it is now a church. Nuovo or new versus the older Gesu church further away. The start façade is unusual and named ‘ashlar’ – typical of 15th century Naples. Apparently the interior is in direct contrast with the stark exterior – spectacularly ornamental.
