Palazzo Sanfelice was built between 1724 and 1726 by the architect and painter Ferdinando Sanfelice , who designed it as his own private residence. It became the talk of the town right away and resulted in more similar palazzi around the city. Now, almost 300 years later, you can see that the building is in a very poor condition and needs a serious restoration, but I’m always fascinated by such historical buildings and I liked it a lot. Besides, it was used as a movie set for numerous films and TV series, which is cool as well. Too bad we were not allowed to actually enter the building and walk the stairs. There is a security guy at the entrance to the courtyard and he says you can only see it from the outside.

This was one of the highlights of the city for me. A hidden gem in this beautiful city. Not many tourists know about this place and i was brought here by a local friend. It really amazed me!

The best way to grasp the beautiful of this remarkable design is to simply walk up the stairs. The dilapidated splendour adds frisson and delight. Its frequently used in movies and ads.

This old historical palace was build under the direction of the architect Ferdinando Sanfelice, as a house for all his large family. The palace is an historical place and may be visited only in parts. The stairs are large and were made in an original fashion. When I visited this palace my first impression was a need of strong maintenance in order to recover some of the original beauty. During the past years something has been done, but the repairs are strongly in contrast with the style of the ancient structure and now are old as the other parts of the palace. All seems old and decadent, even the air smells of old and dirty. As a tourist, the only way I see to push the neapolitan authorities, toward a recovery of this building from the decline, is to visit this palace and talk a lot about his urgent need of maintenance.

Just like in the title - Sanfelice has the similar staircase with high arches like better known and better maintained Palazzo dello Spagnolo. It's a pity that it's in such bad condition. Palace was built in the first half of 18th century. Nowadays it's just another courtyard in Sanita district.
