Went here to see Caravaggio’s Martyrdom of Saint Ursula and Artemisia Gentileschi’s Samson and Delilah. Easy in and out, observing Covid protocols. One of only three Caravaggio’s in Naples.

When I was a kid, I'd walk past this palazzo without a second glance. It was nondescript and nothing ever happened here. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was an exhibition of artworks, including Caravaggio's 'Martyrdom of St. Ursula', which is considered one of his finest. As Caravaggio is one of my favourite artists I had to go. My pleasure at seeing this work was enhanced when I saw the other works, particularly those of the Neapolitan School and this Palazzo seemed the ideal place to house them. The exhibition of terracotta heads of scugnizzi was also worth close examination. There were also works by Rubens, Van Dyck and Gentileschi. It was a real pleasure to see some paintings by the founder of the Neapolitan School, Anthony Sminck van Pitloo (what a great name!). Adding to the delight was the rehearsal for a concert of operatic arias being held in the atrium. The acoustics were really good and the singing was exceptional. Al in all, a most rewarding morning.

Simply beautiful - building, art, etc. Great history and so glad the bank didn't let this go by the wayside.

There were six small rooms open during my visit. Three had mostly unremarkable religious art, one had some dusty old landscapes, one had a handful of charming fin de siecle paintings, and one had a single painting. Yes, the Caravaggio. Probably the least remarkable Caravaggio I've ever seen. I would have walked right past it if I didn't know. Certainly not worth going out of your way for. Anyhow, they play recorded classical music throughout, and the place has a heavy perfume smell throughout. It's part of the 'exhibition' and sounds like a nice idea, but I found it quite distracting. So it's up to you if it's worth 5 euro. I felt like a sucker though.

Quite small but relatively nice gallery. One Caravaggio and couple of rooms filled with local early artists. 5e fee is a bit high compared to the articles. Anyway nice to take a look and break in extremely busy city center

Strange little museum / gallery near the Galeria Umberto with a few surprises with a very alte Caravaggio. Bags need to be deposited near the entrance.

A great respite from the chaos that is central Naples, this elegant, quiet, beautifully maintained Palazzo contains a small treasure trove of art from Caravaggio to the late 19th Century. Just viewing the palace is also a treat. A very pleasant way to spend an hour or so...

The art gallery is housed in a former palace and is set over two floors. There is a small selection of chosen works on the ground floor and the main part is on the top floor.
As you walk in you enter an impressive hall with a stained glass ceiling. You either take the stairs or the lift to the top floor. The lift is rather quaint and I'd recommend taking a ride if you get chance. The stone staircase is also stunning and also worth a trip up. Along the staircase the walls and ceilings are highly decorated. The rooms upstairs are again highly decorated with high ornate ceilings. There are paintings with very short descriptions and some other antique pieces like marble tables to see.
We saw a Botticelli exhibition on our visit which has some impressive works.

The staff were very helpful and amenities are in good order.

Well worth a visit if you're an art enthusiast, but also a nice way to spend a spare hour or so if not.

The entrance fee is 8,00 Euros which I think is ok, but the exhibition is fairly small. The pieces are wonderful and there weren't many people when I was there, so I really had the possibility to enjoy them all and take my time with each painting without standing in the way of other visitors.

Almost didn't go inside because the Caravaggio was on loan (to Capodimonte where I was going to be spending the next day) but so very glad I did. Beautiful spaces filled with a fascinating range of interesting and often beautiful pieces.
