A very busy harbour with lots of traffic and noise. During Sep 2022, there is lots of building work going on. The port building is very pretty. Castel Nuovo is on the edge of the port and is an impressive structure.

This area is full of over priced restaurants and hotels, but you pay for what you get. There's the marina with some outstanding boats (and a few battered "rowing" boats you can hire to sunbathe on (there is no beach here)) and the vistas from the marina restaurants are exceptional (especially Transatlantico - which will get its own 5* review).
The castle Ovo also provides a higher vantage point for some spectacular views and is free to visit.
It is busy during the day but seems to really come to life in the evening, you can expect to pay 7 euros for a beer and 5 to & 7 euros for a glass of wine and 3 to 4 euros for coke, fanta etc. The cheapest food is pizza and these start around 8 euros for a basic margarita up to 17 euros for sea food toppings. pasta is around 14 euros and steaks anything from 18 to 30 euros and usually don't include vegetables, Fish is also very expensive.
It is a base for visiting the main local tourist hot spots of Pompeii, Vesuvius, Sorrento Herculaneum and the isle of Capri.
We travelled independently not part of any organised tour/s.
It costs about 15 euros (fixed price) to get from the area to the main central station, but then the local train is only about 4 euros to Sorrento (takes 1 hour and 15 mins), Vesuvius 2.8 Euros (45 mins), Herculaneum 2.6 euros (25 mins) - timings are on the slow stopping every station train - for the fast train you can knock off between 10 and 25 mins journey time. Capri is reached via the ferry about 35 euros return and takes about an hour.
Whilst a very expensive 4 night city break, we did fit in quite a lot and were blessed with glorious weather. And a city we would very much like to visit again and maybe spend more time in Naples to take in its history and culture.

Great location overlooking Castel dell’Ovo, the ocean and marina.
Great service: kind, professional and smart.
Great breakfast with the best of local specialities (babà , pastiera, sfogliatelle, caprese and more).
Absolutely one of the best room we have ever had in Naples: double ocean front with jacuzzi.
Within the walking area: quite and safe.
100% success for a romantic escape but also a perfect solution for a business or family trip.
Great restaurants walking distance (for example Restaqmme or Rosolino corner).
I suggest this hotel for an outstanding experience to visit Naples.

Santa Lucia is a spectacular spot with superb views across the water. You can come here and you have to decide whether to sit down somewhere and watch the world bo by, enjoying a drink, or be part of the world and really enjoy yourself? Choices, choices!

It's a traditional hotel in Naple, very beautiful in front of the Ovo castle. It has and good atmosphere and nice decor. The old meets the new! Classic with Italian design!

I love the walk across piazza plebliscito down onto the Santa Lucia .
Many restaurants here , bars , lots of people and families.
You might encounter a wedding having their photos .
Here you will see the wonderful views across the water to see the forbidding Mount Vesuvius which looks harmless and beautiful in the distance .
The sea is remarkably blue.
If you want to see the real life of Napoli come along here on the weekend

Its certainly a trawler’s paradise. Above the steep, seaside hill of Santa Lucia is the tiny district of Pallonetto, the core of old fishermen’s Quarters and the location of many of Sophia Loren movies. I like to think that here is where you meet the authentic streets of Naples

Santa Lucia was directly in front of my hotel, the Royal Continental Hotel, so naturally was the closest first great place for me to explore the night I arrived in Naploli. I walked around the little village like pier, and at at Ciro’s a delicious ristorante right on the water with the prettiest views of the boats and strip of shore hotels lit up at night. I even caught fireworks during my dinner! Lovely and romantic if that is your visit. I was happy all by myself!

To the west of the Piazza del Plebiscito, on the slopes of Pizzofalcone and extending down to the sea, lies the district of Santa Lucia. South of the wide Via Santa Lucia, this is an area of modern streets laid out on a regular plan, but to the north, it is a picturesque huddle of narrow stepped lanes where you can see traditional Neapolitan life. It would be a shame to miss this very real neighborhood of shops and bakeries, artisans' workshops, little cafés where locals down their espresso, and streets where children play. Laundry usually hangs overhead, and conversations are carried on between balconies and windows across the narrow streets. It's a colorful place any time of day, but especially lively in the evening.

compared to Centro Storico. Did lots of walking around here before and after checking out Castel del'Ovo.....but WE decided we were glad to be Albergo Palazzo Decumani instead of here and at the water.
