The Virgilian Park (also called "of the Remembrance" in Neapolitan dialect) is a scenic park that is situated in the district of Posillipo.
It is accessible from Viale Virgilio, through a monumental entrance that leads to an open space in which stands a fountain of recent construction.
The park is characterized by a system of terraces overlooking the Bay giving visitors the chance to enjoy a panorama that includes the main wonders of the Gulf of Naples: the islands of Procida, Ischia and Capri, the island of Nisida, the Gulf of Pozzuoli, the neighborhoods of Agnano, Fuorigrotta, the Hermitage of Camaldoli, the Gulf of Bacoli, Monte di Procida, the Vesuvius, the coast Vesuvius, Sorrento Peninsula.
The park is also an amphitheater built by the real nineteenth century, where they still play some shows.
When I was very young, the park was quite deserted and people took advantage of it to go to make love, drink or take drugs.
The park after a first restructuring in the nineties, on the occasion of the World Cup, was again refitted in 2000 with playgrounds for children. In addition to the Belvedere and the "Valley of Kings", the park contains a track sport of athletics entrusted to manage the associations.

There used to be a saying "see Naples and die". This parks takes you out to a point where you can see Naples bay and Mt Vesusius to the left and the entire Baia coast with views of the islands of Ischia and Procida. Breathtaking

A bit hard to get there, it took us around 1.5 hr, first we took bus 140 and then, to get closer, bus c21 for like 3 mins.
The park was not crowded on Tuesday, some people jogging, some having picknicks, families and young companies, peaceful and beautiful.

The Virgiliano Park is located at the tip of Posillipo hill. You can either walk (90mins approx from Mergellina train ststion) and enjoy Posillipo street or grab a 140 bus. From the Virgiliano you can enjoy one of the best views of the world: Napoli and Pozzuoli bays, especially at sunset.

This parc is a bit out of the way, and when taking the bus (140) you will still need to walk up a hill to access it - but it is totally worth it! The parc is great with lots of areas for relaxing in the shade of trees, and also playgrounds for kids. The views of the Bay are spectacular and definitely recommand at sunset.

The park has amazing views. Just be sure you know how to get there as it can be confusing if you do not know your way around the area.

My friends who love in Posillipo residential area drove me for a walk in this nice city park, high on a hill. The views of the sea and the surrounding areas are good on a clear day. I was delighted to be able to see flowers still, at this late season on the year. In particular, I loved the flowering tree from Africa.
Be prepared for a rather long walk. At certain parts, we had no access due to repair and maintenance works.

We hired e-bikes from A D Car Rental just off Via Santa Lucia near Castel Del Ovo (easy and very reasonably priced) and cycled along the sea front and up the hill (effortlessly!). Great views all the way, but absolutely stunning from Parkours Virgiliano down to the coast. A couple of drink/ice cream stalls, reasonably priced just like a the sea front. A great afternoon trip.

If you are not travelling by car it’s good to realise the boulevard leading to the park has had most of its trees cut down so it is very hot. The park does have a cafe though. The children’s park is nice and the park green with great views from the sides. Worth a visit if you are going to Posilipo

This park is located in the upper class neighbourhood of Posillipo, a number of people in the park or enjoying the views mid-morning. The park needs some tender care, prune the scrappy shrubs and trees, trim the grass areas and rid the area of the rubbish that was evident in places. Perched on the upper deck of the bus we soon concentrated on the spectacular views, particularly the coast and offshore. The audio mentioned Capri and other islands, the bay of Pozzuoli and gave a good narration of other sights. If you wish to visit, its Stop 7 on the Blue Route.
