About
By appoinment. The coral and cameos jewellery museum Ascione is in Naples inside the Galleria Umberto I building, opposite the opera-Teatro di San Carlo and near the Royal Palace of Naples. Here you can visit a museum founded as a tribute to the past generations engaged in this successful activity by Ascione Family. It also includes a didactic and an artistic sections, displaying not only hundreds of jewels as witnesses of red coral and Cameo manufacture from 1805 to 1950, but also ancient documents, tools, machinery and pictures to revive and to go on along a journey started 150 years ago.

I visited the Ascione Coral Museum many times. As Neapolitan living abroad, when I come to Naples I always spend a visit to the fascinating Ascione Coral Museum. Located in the heart of Naples, inside the Galleria Umberto I and near to Piazza Plebiscito and San Carlo Theatre, this museum is a masterpiece of the Neapolitan culture and if you are passionate about the coral and want to learn more about the history of the coral in Naples and the masterpieces produced over the past centuries by the Ascione’s family, great “ambassadors” of the Neapolitan culture in the world, I strongly recommend you to pay a visit there and enjoy this unforgettable experience!

I visited this collection last month and I find it hard to express just how fabulous an experience it was. I felt truly priviledged to be allowed the opportunity to look at such exquisite pieces. I was accompanied on my tour by a very knowledgeable member of the family involved in this long standing business. His passion for the history and artistry was inspirational. (Luckily for me, his command of the English language was brilliant, since I don't speak Italian).
It was a delightful and very personal visit. Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in beautiful, hand crafted jewellery.

This museum was super interesting to visit. You should make a reservation ahead of time (I hadn't realized this, but they graciously allowed me to visit anyways). The guide was very thorough and the works in coral and the cameos were magnificent!

I've been here during the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, and I'm really pleased with what I saw. Not only the museums exposes beautiful handmade cameos, but also historical documents that give a deep insight on the development of this market.

I visited this Museum, across from Teatro San Carlo, in September 2013. I was given a tour by one of the owning family members, Giancarlo. He provided extensive details about the history of coral processing, especially in the Naples area and of their own company, but also about the contemporary time.

I saw there pieces of inestimable historical and art value, from centuries back, that were worn by queens and princesses ... magnificent!

It was a great exhibition, which I would revisit with pleasure.

Very interesting journey to discover the Campania tradition of coral processing, in particular that of the Ascione family. The museum is small and little known, but it is really worth a visit. The guided tour lasted about an hour, with a highly trained and very friendly guide.
